My guinea pig hutch is on our lawn outside and when the weather is nice they have free access to the adjoining run. However, it doesn't take long before they have eaten all the grass and we are left with damp mud. I can't really move the hutch around as the same happens wherever I move it. Are there any suggestions for something I can put down on the floor of the run to stop my guinea pigs getting damp fur?

All I can think of at the moment is childrens foam play mats. (They will obviously also kill the grass if left down though.)
Unfortunately this can be an issue of having runs and hutches attached to each other - the inability to move them as easily.

I would pick something like artificial grass which you can buy by the meter at most outdoors and hardware stores.
This will also the rain to drain through but will obviously kill the grass underneath and mean that the piggies don't get the chance ot graze.

As Piggies&buns mentioned having a run attached to a hutch isn't the most practical solution, so I would think about trying to detach them if at all possible and then just placing the piggies out in the run in good weather.
