I'm curled up in the lounge and have noticed that Maya has started coughing. Probably 4 times in the last half hour or so. Africa had the same symptoms when we got her several weeks ago and the vet gave us baytril for her. I still have some of the Baytril left. Do you think I should put Maya on it until we can get her to the vet on Monday night? Apart from the cough she is eating, drinking and popcorning like a spring, just as she normally does.

It would also appear that their mites haven't gone, despite the 3 doses of Ivormec that they had when I first got them, so I dropped a note into the vet with their weights and will be picking up the ivormec on Monday as well

If they are on sawdust bedding i would try changing to newspaper and hay or megasorb ( or something simular )

Poor piggys :(

xx

No they are on fleece and washable bed pads. No skin damage / redness etc. Just a bit too itchy for my liking, and a cough always flags alarm bells in my head. They are all bright as a button though and eating, drinking and playing as normal

Mine cough a bit too, but I can never catch which one it is! But it tends to be when they are eating or I can hear the water bottle going. Sometimes they can get a bit too eager and its like when it goes down the wrong hole and we cough. Have you noticed whether it is at the same time as eating or drinking?

Hope they feel better soon xx

it's because we have too many pigs hon (well, not that you can have too many, but you know what I mean!) - it means we have less chance of getting it right unless we catch them in the act! She is an avid hay eater, so maybe a bit had gone down the wrong way ....

Its typical isn't it; since I first posted she hasn't coughed since! rolleyes

LOL! Too true! Mine are behind me so by the time I turn around they are just all staring!

If it continues, I'd think about taking her to the vet for a quick check, but if not I'd say she's scoffing too quickly! :)
