Me And The Piggies First Nail Clip

I’ve had the two piggies for over a year now and they usually go to the vet and the nurse clips their nails cos I'm a wuss but it costs more to get each piggie’s nails trimmed than it did my cat and she was twice as big. I decided to man up so to speak (I’m a female) and buy some small animal clippers and bit the bullet. I was really nervous especially since Coco has a black foot and naturally curly nails even after they are clipped. They were both perfect little angels for their mummy and grandpa ( he was holding) and now have a brand new gorgeous looking manipedi. I think giving them the extra long time to trust me more before attempting their nails made it easier for them.

If you want to pop over and practice on Ruby sometime, then please feel free....

Ummm I like my fingers where they are thankyou plus I wouldn’t want to deprive you of a job you love so much lol. Is that your job or your daughters to do that?

My daughter can do anything with Ruby, but is also a complete pushover with her special pig, and the moment Ruby starts to struggle during nail clipping my daughter tells me it is MY fault and I am clipping her nails wrong and must be hurting her :roll:
Ruby then climbs onto my daughters shoulder and bites anyone else who tries to touch her - such a sweet little pig.
So my daughter is not allowed in the room when I clip Ruby's nails.
My younger daughter holds her, my husband keeps a carrot or cucumber piece right next to her mouth, and I clip.
It is ridiculous, but it is the only way to get it done.
My other daughter stays outside of the room shrieking; 'don't hurt Ruby', and 'Are you being gentle with her', etc.
So it's fun for all the family on Ruby nail clipping days :mal:

And I thought clipping Christian's nails was challenging!

You know you love her even with all her quirks.
I have to be the bad guy (girl lol) in this house. My OH will not do anything that the piggies will not enjoy (he doesn’t spot clean either grrr) he is so soft with them and wants him to be the one they like most. Theres no way he could have helped me today, I can just hear him now “stop it they don’t like it” and put them back in the cage lol.
