Meadow or Timothy?

Hi, please could someone advise me which hay i should use. Meadow or Timothy? I've seen some that have a mixture of both? Also what is the difference?

Both are fine, it’s down to piggie of owner preference, meadow hay is much softer and better if you are putting it in as part of bedding and Timothy hay is spiky and has more stalks.
I personally use meadow as I am very allergic to Timothy hay but you will find it’s all down to personal preference.
 
I use soft meadow hay in their boxes (bedroom) and timothy hay in a big pile on the floor for them to munch on. Mine eat more timothy than meadow.

Thank you very much. Do piggies prefer Timothy to eat with it having more stalks? Sorry asking lots of questions.

You can get different cut Timothy hay. First cut is very stalky, second cut less stalky and third cut (also called soft cut) doesn’t have many stalks. It depends on your piggy.

Piggies tend to enjoy a mixture, especially as it is their main food- just like many human people enjoy different types of bread. There are softer timothy hay cuts available too that some piggies prefer. My piggies love the stalkier stuff which probably wears the teeth down better if you have a piggy prone to overgrown/imbalanced teeth. But timothy is definitely more allergenic for humans!
There are also orchard hays, green oat hays, readigrass, that are good treat hays to feed a bit of. Alfalfa hay isnt good usually as it is very high in calcium, only recommended for new mums with very small babies.

Mine are bedded on meadow hay (they, of course, eat some of it too). They also have second cut (soft) timothy for eating. Mine dont like the stalky first cut timothy
