AWWW - he should be back to his old self soon. It's amazing how quickly piggy operation wounds heal!

All the best to the little man!

I've been waiting anxiously for an update and was so pleased to see your post about how well Zippy is doing. You and Steve are doing a brilliant job!

Poppet has said to tell Zippy that she is so pleased her uncle Simon has made him better! x

I hope that Zippy is passing his check-up with flying colours!

We took him to the vets today for his check up and Simon said hes doing fine. Hes slightly up in weight and the wound is nice and clean. He did say though that the next few weeks are very important as stones can have a habit of reoccuring, fingers crossed this isnt the case with Zippy though. He certainly seems a lot brighter and his urine is nice and clear which Simon said is good.

I am so glad that Zippy is getting over this op so well and keeping my fingers crossed that no stones will form again in a hurry.

has Simon given you diet advice?

Yes, Simon has told us to give him a low calcium diet, mainly consisting of grass (which is proving to be tough at the moment as all the grass is buried unfer 3 inches of snow!). We also need to look at limiting the amount of his nuggets that he has and they are high in calcium. He's quite a fussy pig, I gave him some celery earlier but he's not showed much interest so far! Luckily, Zippy's favourite is lettuce, which Simon says isn't too bad for him because it's full of water and we need to get as much water into him as possible to try and stop more stones forming.

Thats not a bad idea! I'll send Steve out with a shovel and a pair of scissors!:p

Excellent update, fingers crossed his recovery continues to go well!

Hes still doing well, his weight is up a little bit more and he is more active. He was out of his house all evening last night. Steve is still giving him some critical care around lunchtime each day as it seems he needs to be stimulated into eating. In other words if we dont syringe him he sits in his house all day and eve!

I do think that after surgery or illness they need a bit of encouragement to eat. I've always found that giving some syringe food does prompt them into eating again. It sounds like he's doing really really well! Fantasic news!
