Hello!
I am totally panicking as I found out my guinea pigs have ringworm after finding it on myself. I suspected they may have had ringworm after they had been itching a little even after being treated for mites. I'm not sure if they had mites before as they had a few bald patches which had grown back a few weeks after their treatment. But just after that though, I had realised they were itching a little again but not as badly as before, so I kind of dismissed it. I suspected ringworm but they weren't showing symptoms. I remembered looking at photos of ringworm on humans too, just in case. A few weeks later my friend pointed out that I had something on my arm, which is when I knew that they definitely had ringworm and had given it to me too. I immediately got them a beaphar anti ringworm spray which I have been using on them for almost 2 weeks but I'm not sure if they are getting better as I found a flaky bald patch on Ambrose today :( I am using clotrimazole on myself and I heard it can be used on Guinea pigs in small amounts too so I may try this. If it gets worse we will go to the vets but I don't really trust them as I have spent hundreds on my guinea pigs and this ink resulted in one guinea pig passing away and Alfie and Ambrose still not being well, even when I suggested it may be ringworm. They told me mite treatment was our first option and if it doesn't work we will try something else, this made sense but they are still not well after we paid for very overpriced treatment(£140 for 3 ivermectin injections per guinea pig) .And I am not able to pay much more for another treatment that may not work + consultation fees. But my question is what needs to be cleaned around the house to stop it spreading again once we get rid of it? And if there is any oral treatment I could get for them online for ringworm?
Many thanks x

@AdaGiulia Unfortunately as we aren't vets we can't tell you to self treat. There are other prescription treatments that could be used and would be effective.

It would be worth looking for a new vet if you're unhappy with the service received from the current one.
