Okay, I've got news.
And no, I haven't gone on a wild shopping spree because I thought that a few more piggies would be fun.
But yes, I have got two piggies as long(er) term guests.
So meet Betty and Barney:

Barney lived with a friend of mine. He is a 3,5 year old rescue boar who recently lost his partner.
My friend just got a very bad diagnosis and since she has got quite a few pets (fish, parakeets) and also takes in wild animals who need help, it was decided that Barney is looking for a new home.

I don't want a permanent second group but I couldn't walk away from this situation. Unfortunately, no one in my 'guinea pig circle' of friends has an open space for a boar at the moment. But one friend has an elderly boar and will take Barney (and Betty) when the time has come for her boar.

In the meantime Barney and his young wiflet Betty (about 6 months old) have moved in with me. They are currently living in my kitchen.

They are both very timid and skittish but Barney isn't alone any more and they seem to get along fine with each other.

They are both gorgeous and I’m sure will happily settle in soon.
So sorry for your friend, holding her in my heart.
Please pass on the love and best wishes of the forum to her.

You are so kind taking Betty and Barney on and it must be such a relief for your friend.
I’m also sure you will find it hard ( impossible? ) to give them up 😅

They look so cute.

Are Betty and Barney named after the couple in the flintstones cartoon or is that just a coincidence?

I'll find it hard for sure but they will be happy living with my friend in her group.
And I don't want a second group for years to come.

It's a lovely thing to take them on and help socialise them and keep them well and happy. It will be an important part of their little piggy journeys I'm sure, however long or short their stay is. The names really suit them and they look very cute. And they are already taking part in feet out friday with those little feet!

Today B&B had their first full cage cleaning. Afterwards they both (but mostly Betty) were pretty active and up and about in their cage.

They had their second weighing. Barney had the exact weight as last week (a bit more than 1.2 kg).
Betty put on a bit of weight. Since I hardly saw more than the tip of her nose all week, I'm very happy that she seems to have been eating fine.

While I was on holiday, B&B stayed with another friend than Pino and the girls. They stayed longer because I needed to clean the kitchen windows first.
I picked them up yesterday afternoon. After two weeks with me, they stayed for three weeks at my friend's place.
But I had the feeling that Barney like being "home" again.
