Meet Betty and Barney

This morning Pino wandered into the kitchen, went under the table, under the cage ... and back to the living room.
Barney was eating a strand of hay when Pino appeared (but he didn't see him, only heard him and probably smelled him). He stopped eating and froze till Pino was out of the room again. Then he started eating again

They are still very timid and skittish.
Barney runs away whenever I come closer to the cage (except when I bring food).
Betty is a tiny bit more relaxed in the cage but she hates to be caught or held. Always thinks that I'm going to eat her.
Barney on the other hand is a tiny bit more relaxed when I hold him.

Yesterday evening Barney sniffed a piece of bell pepper in my hand. He didn't take it but didn't run away either. So that's a start.

Betty does zoomies in the cage and I've even seen a few popcorns. So she doesn't seem to be too unhappy.

I would love to give them more space but at the moment that's not possible. And they are much to skittish to have free roaming time yet.
But I read to them every evening for about 20-30 minutes to help them getting used to me.

Such a big difference to Cherry and Chinchi who are both very cheeky.

You see part of Betty's little nose in the first fleece tunnel. She loves sleeping in a tunnel.
I don't blame her, it's a bit like being in a sleeping bag, no draughts at your back when the blankets fall off the bed or your cage mate disturbs the hay nest etc
