There’s been a lot of that today!

I found Nutmeg grooming Ed through the bars when I went in to check the temperature in their room 😍 he was doing small happy rumbles while she licked and nibbled his ear and side. Followed by a bout of popcorning and zooms from both of them

Ed has settled right down. He bites the bars on occasion and rumbles at her, but with big long gaps to go nap and eat some hay. Nutmeg has spent more time at the bars today than he has. She can squeeze her entire nose through 😅 I have double checked the divider is secure!

Bonding should be happening Saturday when my OH is free to help me 🤞

OH opened a bag of apples two rooms away and Nutmeg started wheeking 😂

She was brave enough to come snatch it from our hands before running off with it

Gave Ed some too. He can be a bit unsure of new-to-him veg so he dropped it and then trampled over it to get up on top of the carrot cottage again

Meg has been staging a protest at the bars that there is a piece of apple just laying there and she can’t reach it 😂

I joked when bonding Mourne with the Trio that I could've used a beta blocker to keep the heart rate down, but my heart rate was the most stressful part of the whole thing lol. It actually went pretty smoothly (as these things go). It doesn't look to me like you've got much to worry about with that cute pair, and I'm laughing at the bar biting. The only time Mourne ever chewed on the bars is when he had neighbours, both with Bann and the Trio. He never did it for my attention and he doesn't do it any more, which is good because I'd be needing new grids soon otherwise. Fingers crossed for the weekend!

That is incredibly reassuring 😅 on the one hand, I'm excited for them to be together - as are they, from the signs at the bars. On the other hand, I am dreading the stress haha

Ed has never chewed the bars before either - not even when side-by-side with Tofu briefly. So I'm sure it's just the excitement of having Meg as a neighbour. No idea if she will continue to bar bite after, but she's only ever done it in his direction, not mine, which I'm choosing to take as a good sign! Hopefully they will settle in as well as Mourne has with your trio

They really do want that divider gone haha. I have promised them it’ll be early tomorrow morning. I’d better go get the pen set up…

Lady Meg has found her voice. She wheeked so loud when I was mixing up bread dough that I genuinely thought one of them had injured themselves. Nope, she was doing zoom laps of her half of the cage and had thrown her bed upside down in starvation (ignore all the clearly-edible hay, she is STARVING)

They got more hay and pea flakes 😅

It sounds as if they really want to be together so bonding will hopefully go smoothly.
When Micah joined his ladies he was so excited he didn’t know whether to hump them, rumble, strut or zoom so he did everything!

Bonding has begun and it is all incredibly chill so far! Been about half an hour. We’ve had a ton of rumbles from Ed, lots of friendly grooming and eating, very mild dominance (chinning and chasing) and now they’re napping together already. Interspersed with popcorns from them both

Lady Meg is definitely in charge 😂

Ed backed down so fast 😂 he tried to mount her a few times in the first couple of minutes but after she kept kicking him off, he went back to rumbling circles around her, popcorning, and eating hay

He was dominant over Tofu, but that really wasn’t hard. He’s proving no challenge to Meg at all!

For her part, she hasn’t escalated anything beyond nudging his chin up and chasing him off her preferred bits of hay

All is quiet and peaceful now. We’ll see how long that stays over the next few hours

Honestly this has been the most chill bonding I’ve ever seen. They’ve had no arguments at all!

Not even any dominance since the first round. They’ve spent the last two hours napping and going hay diving together

OH is setting the cage up downstairs and if all continues to look good they’re going to move in together 😍

Happily moved in 😍 we had a bout of rumbles and zoomies and now they’re happily exploring the cage together and sharing a hay pile

Nutmeg has been popcorning like a mad thing!

Ed & Meg have been zooming and popcorning like crazy - I forgot quite what having two young pigs is like. The energy! They’re just gorgeous. Meg has come out of her shell and turned into quite a bossy lady. Ed seems thrilled with her and quite happy to do what she tells him

They did slow down enough for veggies
