So I've been planning on waiting a bit before getting piggies again, but last weekend I saw these two cuties listed on a nearby shelter's website and fell in love! I was excited to be able to pick them up tonight!

Meet Marla and Charlotte! They are such sweet girls and I am over the moon. They are very brave for new piggies and have already taken a look around their new home. I put some hay in the cage, and they both came running. I already can tell Marla is going to be the foodie here. :)) Charlotte is a bit more shy than Marla, but she took a look into the food bowls as well. :D

Charlotte's bum is a bit matted and pee soaked, and I am a bit worried about it. I don't want to freak her out by brushing it out, but she could really use it. Any suggestions?

Marla is the slightly larger white one, and Charlotte is the darker.

So excited with my new girls, and can't wait until they trust me enough to pet their fluffy little heads! :luv: Sorry about the bad quality of the pictures, they were taken on my tablet.

Oh lovely! I think little and often with fur trimming in that area with food rewards rather than a traumatic lengthy cutting process.theyre stunning!

Very cute, congrats!

Tricky one with the wet fur. Maybe keep an eye out for any other signs of infection (just in case).

Not sure the best way of grooming/cleaning her whilst they're so new to you, sorry.

Good luck xx

:agr: I still have to do this with Blitzen occasionally but he's far happier with that than brushing / combing. They're gorgeous, congratulations!

Gorgeous piggies.
I think you will have to cut the fur round the bottom, or you will end up with knotted hair, & they won't like that. Keep the fur short there, to prevent any more problems.

Congratulations! They are utterly gorgeous, hope to see lots of them around on the fourm

Could you give her a little bath? And get someone to hold her for you while you chop the matted bits off ? X
I'm afraid giving her a bath would scare her to bad right now, but wish I could.

I ended up cutting the hair around her bum a bit. Poor girl was pretty pee soaked and had awful snarls. One was actually 3 inches long! Yikes! :( Poor little Charlette, Marla is giving her a hard time, keeps rumblestrutting and bossing her around. Anyways I'm hoping she's feeling a bit better with her fur combed out a bit.

Marla is quite a brave little lady, she actually let me pet her head for a moment, and seemed to enjoy it. :))

I gave MoMo a bath in her first few weeks and she was fine it actually made her a lot closer to me. If you get a towel and watching up bowl fill it with warm water and put the towel inside to prevent slipping. Then just lightly wash her bum and back legs. She will know that it's dirty and probably want it clean. Her hairs will be matted or pulling her and I know MoMo hates it when hers gets like that! Once you've done that you'll see the water change colour and all the wee will come out. I just use a tiny pea sized amount of baby shampoo. Pick her up wrap her in a warm towel then sit with her till she's dry and give her some veggies! She should be okay :) good luck x

Thank you! :) Actually she is better now since her bum had been trimmed, so a bath isn't really necessary. Her bum has dried up very nicely, and the pee soaked parts cut off. Its very cold today, we even have some snow, so I will wait a bit before they get baths. Hopefully they won't hate it as much as one of my past piggies did!

Beautiful piggies, glad they've got a lovely home with you.
The piggy in the first picture looks like Willow. He had to have some knots cut out when he first came here (6 weeks ago) but with a quick comb every 2 or 3 days now he's fine. I will cut his hair when the weather warms up but putting it off at the moment, don't want to do it too soon as I'd love to see what it's like when he's grown a bit more (only 4 or 5 months old).

Wow they do look very alike! Maybe Marla has a long lost brother? Haha :)) He's such a precious little guy!

Hi there @Ramona Meowers! :) Remember our conversation about piggy cravings? We haven't moved yet, but I found these two cuties when I was stalking adoption pages. I decided I couldn't wait anymore. :)) Just thought you might want to see, I can't wait to see pictures of your piggies someday!
