The best way to post pictures is by registering with free uploading site http://photobucket.com/.
From there, you have to simply copy/paste the code to wherever you want to in a thread. No attachments needed.
When you press the upload button on photobucket, you will find "customize your upload options" in a tiny font at the bottom of the upload page. Please choose 320x240 pixels, or for really special pictures 640x480 pixels. That will speed up the upload and will also make it easier to see pictures on the forum.
You can also edit/crop/resize/letter (decorate) pictures on photobucket - like for instance my own avatar!
