We just adopted a neutered boy from the RSPCA today. Hubby decided to name him Prince...he's ginger like Prince Harry...so...his idea. ;) Prince is around 8-12 months old. He's very tame and no problem at all handling him. Unlike my 2 girls, Bunny and Cookie (especially her!), who would give me a chase just to be picked up.

We introduced him to the girls this afternoon and seemed they are fine. We let them sniff each other (one at a time) so they would know what the scent they are smelling. We would properly introduce them starting tomorrow. We just let Prince settle for today and get used to his new home and surrounding.

Here are some photos.

I saw him on the RSPCA adoption page and thought he was stunning! What a gorgeous boy, glad he has found a nice home!

He was named Zeno in the adoption page. We started bonding him to my alpha girl, Bunny. Seemed Bunny still wants to be the boss. No scuffle and such as of yet but loads of growling. Prince is the one backing out all the time so, let's hope they can settle their hierarchy quickly. They are sitting beside each other now eating hay. We'll try with Cookie a bit later. She's the same age as Prince so that may be were a bit of the messy rumble strutting will appear. Fingers crossed it may not be much of a problem.

Well as expected, it was Cookie who made it difficult. She got quite a few hair from Prince from some scuffles here and there. Will try again later.

Oh wow he is absolutely gorgeous!:drool:

Hope the bonding is going well! How big is the hutch? You may need to upgrade it for three piggies as they require more flat space on one level :)

The photo of the hutch is above. It always have a 5x2 run downstairs. We just increased one side a bit for Prince at the moment. Although he is comfier and prefer to be in the hutch, so for this day, he'll be in the hutch and the girls down the run with loads of boxes which they prefer during daytime.

Ah right yea 2x5 is the minimum size for 3 piggies I believe! :) Yes I saw the pic and I thought it was one my friend used to have which was a 2x3 so thought I'd check! They do squabble in small places aha

My 2 girls are lazy when it's night time. At 10pm they would go to 2nd floor of the hutch and stay there all the time until they wake up in the morning. They won't even go down for food in the middle of the night (unlike my past 2 girls). In the morning I have to encourage them to go down. So they have all the food upstairs same as downstairs. In the long run, Prince can sleep at the bottom hutch. If he wants to go upstairs, he can as well. We have a house box where one can sleep on top of it too.

I'm thinking he was housed in a hutch when he was rescued because the first night that he was in the run, he kept on biting the railing of the hutch to get in and it kept waking us up.

During the day, the piggies have a free run around the living room so plenty of space to run. Gated of the run and hutch closes at 10pm. Hahaha.

Welcome Prince!

Congratulations, I love the snoozy photo :) He has obviously settled in so well to his wonderful home with you

I would love free ranged piggies! Sadly, so would my cat. I've got a few lazy girls myself so I know what that's like! :))

Update:

They have not bonded well yet, but they can all sit together and eat. There are still quite a lot of rumblestrutting (mostly from Prince). Prince is still quite wary of the 2 girls whenever they sniff him from behind, might be because he was bullied in the past by other piggies? (that's according to the foster we picked him up from).

He is quite fine with Cookie (the aby and same age as him) though. They keep on chasing each other and Cookie is really happy from what I can see coz she keeps on popcorning like crazy and would always want to sit near him. Bunny is 3.5 yrs and is not as active as she used to, so Cookie doesn't really get a lot of chasing from her, unless she's in heat.

Bunny is still insisting she's the boss. She managed to lick his ears and eyes a few times and sniffs him a lot. But because Prince is so wary of her, he mistakes it for a threat and starts backing out and rumblestrutting, which sometimes probably confuses Bunny and then she'll start rumblestrutting and yawning.

Oh well, we will still try as long as it takes. Prince is free to roam the living room now with the girls apart from sleeping time, which I have to separate them still until they trully bonded.
