Senior Guinea Pig
I knew our local rescue opening up coinciding with us getting the all clear on our fungal issues was a dangerous combination. A third new addition came to join us last weekend, a week after the skinny pigs arrived. She came into rescue age 3.5 weeks as part of an unexpected litter. The lady was keeping one sow to live with the mother but wanted the remaining sow to go to resuce with the boars after they reached 3 weeks old. Our lone sow Rosie needed a friend so Sue thought it worth a try with her as little Princess Rose (named by Sue's daughter) was so young. Unfortunately, things with Rosie did not work out, she either ignored her or attacked her and so Princess Rose has joined the herd and is loving it. She is a very confident little pig, and I see she has desgins on being top sow one day. As for Rosie, she's happy on her own, she just does not seem to want to live with another pig, but is happy to interract through the grids.
This week I have seen a very special friendship forming between Princess Rose and Phoebe skinny pig, they have been playing together etc. The skinny's we think are much younger than the resuce was told, and Phoebe may in fact only be about 12 weeks old and Katie a few months old. So Phoebe and Princess will grow up together. Princess is currently 305g and is 4.5 weeks old. Too young to have left her Mum really but the rescue had no choice but to take her.
Anyway, here's a few pics:
