Hi all. My name is Guineapigrescuer. A few weeks ago I rescued a guinea pig from Petco. She was abandoned and someone brought her in telling petco to sell her. I happened to be a Petco when she was still up for adoption. After looking at her and petting her a little bit, I decided to bring her home with me. So I adopted her and named her Princess. She came with her cage, water bottle, chew toy, and two bowls. I also went ahead and purchased some bedding, timothy hay, a house for her to hide in, and guinea pig food. So I would have introduced her to yall way earlier, but I have just recently got a photo of her. I've made great progress with her, and even though she is pretty quiet, eventually I am going to make her one happy guinea pig. As much as I would love to get her a friend, I cannot. My parents and I agreed that I could get one and only one guinea pig. They know that guinea pigs do best with other guinea pigs, but we know quite a bit of people with happy single guinea pigs. I work with her everyday and I try to take her out and play with her everyday. I plan on getting her a few toys to play with for Christmas. Something to keep her more occupied than flipping over her igloo. Thanks sport_billy for fixing the pic. I try to make sure that she is well handled and not bored.
 
Oh my goodness she is very very pretty! I dont think I have ever seen a piggy with that kind of colouring before! I bet she is glad that you have rescued her. What is PetCo? Are you in the US or the UK? x

Princess is a very beautiful girl indeed!

We have got a thread with tried and tested toy tips in our Daily Care section. You will find that many expensive shop toys don't get much interest.

I still hope that you and your parents will eventually change your mind. Guinea pigs are not unhappy on their own, but there is quite a difference and an extra sparkle to when they meet a companion who they can be with 24/7!

They are so entertaining when they have a friend to play with as well :) Watching my three in the evenings is more interesting than the television!
 
Goth, Petco is a pet store here in the US. As much as I would love to get another guinea pig, I really don't have the space for a bigger cage. Or the funds. She is really gorgeous, I agree. Eventually I am gonna get her a Christmas related outfit and probably get a picture of her in it. I do have a quick question. I plan on taking her to a local momma pop type pet store on Friday to get her nails clipped. What is the best way for me to transport her?
 
I use a cat carrier but one that opens from the top, plenty of space for when they get bigger
