I'm off to meet the piggies at our local rescue in the next day or so - just finalising details. Turns out they are less than half a mile form my house! Mmmmmm me has uncomfortable feeling I am falling into something here lol!

Exciting times ahead! Let us know how you get on :) You looking at sows or boars?

I was thinking about boars, but I am willing to meet the lady who runs it and all the piggies and make a mutual decision on who suits who. I have my C&C grids(40), and bought some towels to make cuddle cups etc today, but I am still a long way from ready or equipped. Taking my time to make sure I get it right for all. Oh forgot to mention my manager thinks it's a fabulous idea and is right behind me. I also have a certian plae in the house I need to declutter for the cage.

Excellent good luck, Let us know who you decide on, c&c cages are ace, so pleased we went c&c. We will be expecting pigtures you know that don't you :))

Wishing you all the best! Make sure that you don't come home with all of them - the temptation will be there! :)

Otherwise, let the piggies and the rescue lady decide who suits - you will fall for them anyway!

oh dear.... you may come end up with more piggies than originally planned :))

How exciting to be visiting a rescue. You will have lots of piggy cuddles.

Nope - two are the maximum it's a long term commitment which will require a lot of intense input at the beginning getting them used to us etc, and even after that if you have too many you can not give them lots of individual attention. No point having more and ending up with unhappy pets and unhappy owners.

The towels are going to be for absorbency folded inside fleece "pillows" at the base of the cuddle cups so that if they have an "accident" while being cuddled it won't go onto laps.
I am planning fleece for most areas in the cage with towels underneath for absorbency

I think there is some kind of waterproof material you could put on the base as well under the towel so you wouldnt get wet at all.If you made spares you could swap wet ones. I have incontinence pads under my main fleece to absorb accidents but wees usually in litter trays.

Can I ask what rescue you're going to? You're not too far from me and there's a local rescue I've not heard good things about sadly :(

Met the piggies......damn in was hard coming home without any! I went with two in mind that were on the website but they are quite young and small, and so adorable I'm sure someone else will want them. Instead I asked if they had any "stickies" as I know I can love anything and as I explained before one of the things I want to do is take them into work for pet therapy. Well there were two three year old sisters............now I'm really beating myself around the head. They are adults well loved well handled very happy to be cuddled and victims of a change in fortune for the previous owner. One has lymphoma but is symptom free and vet checked. Just a case of knowing she may not be here too long, but there are plenty of others waiting for homes if she does pass away. Not one of the piggies resisted being picked up and they all settled - maybe fear, maybe that they were happy I'm not expert enough to tell yet.
I'm just not quite as forward on the whole preparation business as I'd like to be.....
Plus I've thought of one really BIG concern when my daughter goes away we board her dog and he is a jack russell and he caught a rat when we took him out once. I only thought of it today when I was trying to imagine all the different problems that might occur in a typical year of piggy ownership. So I have to think how we would overcome that.
