Me again! I am getting my new piggies next week and am organising their hutch etc. so I am trying to decide on what I want in the cage...I will line with news paper and I know sawdust etc can't be used for guinea pigs.i bought some care fresh the other day as it was on offer but I am wondering who uses megazorb? And how good is it? Is it messy like sawdust can be I.e coming out of cage etc? And where is the best place to get it from.also how big is a 85l bag and how long does that last?
Thankyou so much for your help. I'm sorry to ask so muck I just want to get it right

Xx sacha

I have just finished my first bag of megazorb - it's horrible stuff - really dusty and smelly. Good points are that it's very absorbant and easy to clean up. I will not be getting it again. Am back on wood shavings but am going to try Fitch next time

Thankyou-the thread is great! Omg so many choices its making my brain ache!

The manufacturer now state it's not suitable for small animals if they're asked. I personally dont like it anymore its very dusty nowadays, it never used to be.

I used it for about 20 months & only stopped after hearing it wasn't good for small animals. I topped mine with a think layer of hay so I don't think it was too bad as they hardly came into contact with it. It's the only product I've used that can go a week between changes.

I'm now experimenting with other products & currently using white paper bedding from:- http://www.lawsonanimalfeeds.co.uk/r...r-bedding.html Bunny Burrows rescue where I help out has used this for a long time & swear by it. I first cover the run base with a thick layer of newspapers before adding a good layer of this paper bedding. My piggies now have cat lit trays with the same 2 layers plus a load of hay on top. They love them. I do a part change in the most used areas & cat lit trays after 4 days & a full change 4 days later. I got 2 bags about 6 weeks ago & have used about a bag and a half which is good considering the run is over 8ft x 3ft & I've also used it for a hospital cage & the last 11 days in 2 cages for 4 young boars I'm fostering. I'm ordering some Fitch today & will compare that against this paper bedding.

To be honest I still prefer Megazorb but I'll keep trying other products until I find something as good.

So confusing! I'm stuck! Thankyou for all taking time to reply xx
