Anybody use it for piggies?

Fleece isn't working out for me - looking for an alternative that I can spot clean. Any other ideas?

I use Megazorb, it's really good. Only problem with it is it is really light so when the piggies have a mad five minutes it gets kicked out of the cage.

I gave up on fleece as well and started using Allbed which is made in Ireland. I know a few other GP owners that have used it for a good while and they think it's great.

Certainly I find there is much less smell and the piggies stay drier for longer on it than the fleece. It's also dust free and safe for piggies.

My local equine shop sell it at £6.50 a bale, much cheaper than pet shop bedding.

Have a look at the website for a picture of what it looks like and a list of local suppliers.

I've got a ferplast 140 (about the same size as a 2x4) and a bag of megazorb lasts me about a week and a half but I've got 6 pigs and clean them out 2/3 times a day. I usually order 2 bags at a time plus food and hay (6 bags) and the postage doesn't cost any more. It's only £8 for Scotland though that's with the hay experts.

You could try http://www.animalmagicpetsupplies.c.../Shops/BT3336/Categories/Payment_and_Delivery

They're much cheaper for postage and they do free delivery if you spend over £75 but not sure if that applies to N.I. Holidayhutch who runs it is a member here you could always ask her - she's lovely!

Hey thats great! Thanks! There's a supplier near me too - gonna go tomorrow and probably get a bag!

I have been using megazorb for my hutch for some time - I find it sets my allergies off less than woodshavings, and seems to suit the pigs well. I would recommend it.

I've been using it for a couple of months, it's good, much better than wood shavings, seems much more absorbent and less smelly. I think out of all beddings I've tried I prefer Carefresh, but Megazorb is a perfectly acceptable bedding for us, and it's a lot cheaper than Carefresh.

I use megazorb at the moment for my girls but they're in an indoor Nero cage. I love it - cheap and you get loads (I only have 2 girls so it lasts me ages).

But I'm going to be switching to fleece when I set up the c&c so I'm a bit disappointed to read the unhappy comments about the fleece. I was hoping it was going to make life easier for cleaning them out.

Unless I'm doing it wrong! I hate brushing the poop up off the fleece as it wrinkles under the brush. The hay sticks to it, I have to change it every couple of days.... the only thing I was thinking was that perhaps I might cut a basin in 4 quarters and place a quarter in each corner of the c&c pen, put shavings then hay on top and then they could be lifted out and cleaned every day. Most wee seems to be in the corners. Don't let me put you off - maybe I just need a better system or something. It does look nice when it's first tidied.
