hello ive gone and brought some megazorb today and while its a big bag I'm not sure how long it lasts, so my question to megazorb users is how often do the pigs need cleaning with megazorb in the cage? I'm used to cleaning everyother day but was using paper and hay than so needed doing frequently i used to give them fleece bedding but washing everyother day and having time to dry was a pain though i did like it I'm trying to find the right thing that works for me and my lovely ginny piggers wheek wheek:-)

ive just changed to megazorb after not getting on with fleece... and well... sawdust is rubbish...!....:))
i corner clean the cages where my piggies are tidy... but if we go by my messy boys... i plan to do it every 5 days or if it gets messy before that really....
play it by ear... :)

I used to use megazorb but changed to aubiose because it's better value for me. However, I use both in the same way (in my foster cage). I put a layer of newspaper (makes it easier for cleaning out) then an inch of megazorb/ aubiose, then a covering of hay. I change the hay every 2-3 days, which only takes a couple of minutes, but the rest once a week. :)

flips can i ask how many pigs you have to a cage? i have two boys today i cleaned the cage laid with newspaper a good dollop of megazorb then hay and then readigrass all sprinkled over so they could forage around. my boys are messy little boys lol so i will watch and learn :))

also flips auboise is a hemp type bedding isnt it looks a but like woop chips? i was looking at hemcore today and also auboise but megazorb was 6.38 for 85 litres it was a farm shop they also did 20kg bags of guinea pig food for £12.44 veggie society approved food too i usually buy wag optimuim and it cost nearly £8 for 5kg so might give this other food a try it will last for months

I only have a single boar in a 100cm cage (they are short term fosters and also get floor time). I have tried using megazorb and aubiose in different ways and the layer of hay makes a huge difference. Without a layer of hay the boys kicked megazorb out of the cage and got bits stuck up their bottoms.
I change the hay every couple of days because it gets smelly and rake up the worst of the poops (a cat litter scoop is handy for this). Using hay makes the megazorb last much longer, and as hay is cheaper (I buy a bale) it's more economical. You can also lift out any soggy patches of megazorb when you change the hay and top up if needed. It only takes a few minutes.

Aubiose is a hemp bedding. I tried it because I had a really dusty bag of megazorb one time. I prefer it and because it's so densely packed you get a lot more. Megazorb is £8 and aubiose is £9 from my supplier but aubiose is still better value.
I use aubiose in the foster cage and in the litter tray for my other pigs (which is changed every 3 days because it's a smaller area). The aubiose lasts 5-6 weeks whereas the megazorb lasted 3- 4 weeks.

HTH. :)
