Megan isn't too well today :(

We noticed she was acting odd last night, she didnt eat much tea and was trying to burrow up a corner. Meggy is not normal at best of times but it was very strange behaviour even for her.

We gave her some Metacam and she picked up a little, her poo output was low for Moo-Cow (you could see fleece lol) so we suspected she was a little slow in her guts so she had a spot of metachlopromide to keep things moving through. This morning we had small poos but they were there at least. She only lost 10g overnight, so must have ate something, but there was a ton of hay left - normally she will destroy it and be prowling around at breakfast time. She managed a little bit of celery and some hay just before we left for work.

I am thinking her breathing sounds worse than normal but with her constant crackling and hooting it can be quite hard to know Megs level of normal, but the fact I am noticing something there may point to something and it is very strange to be off her veg. Hope we dont have to go down the syringe feeding root as she has a funny shaped head and it is difficult to access her mouth easily. Can't wait to get home and get her off to vets to see Rosie at 6pm.

Oh no not Megan. Poor baby. I really hope the vet can find out what is wrong and get her well.

bigs hugs and healing vibes on they're way... xx

Oh Meggy Moo! I hope you can get to the bottom of what is making her poorly. I know how you are feeling. x

Back from vets, teeth ok and breathing fine. She was a little vocal when Rosie palpatated her bladder but urine showed no blood. Rosie is thinking slow guts due to lack of poo and size of it. But that is so far the only outward sign of poorlyness. So we have infacol and emeprid to give and pain relief too just in case. We are going to re-assess in 24 hours and will weigh and syringe feed as needed until then. If no improvement it'll be back to Rosie for further diagnostics,
Hoping we can get her system kick started with the gut stim.

She has nibbled some carrot and a little hay and we'll have her out for CC after our tea. Really hoping she will be okay.

It is good she is eating more. I wonder if she was a bit bloated. I hope she gets better soon.

Best wishes to your lovely girl xx

Got infacol, emeprid and Zantac all in her now and a little bit of metacam just in case.

Moo ate a piece of forbidden cucumber (this makes poos very wet for moo) but it was the only thing she would eat and struggled to get 10ml Critical Care in her, her head is so strangely shaped and she won't willingly take the syringe.... She has took some hay from us and we are massaging and trying to keep her moving. Her tummy is very gurgly and we have had 4 poo's so it is coming trough slowly. Feeding again before bed and will come down in night to check on her.

Just rubbing her as I type and been rewarded with gurgles and a tiny poo :)

Thank you all for your vibes and well wishes. X x

Oh poor Meggy :(

Fingers crossed she'll be feeling a bit better by the morning, she's a really special little lady and don't like to think of her being poorly :( bless her little heart. Glad she's seen the vet, it always puts your mind at ease a little. Hope she's a bit perkier in the morning and heading back to her normal self.

If you need anything at all, you know where I am :)

x

EDIT: Our posts crossed! Cuddles to Meggy Moo :)

Bless her, is it a bit of bloat then?

Xx

Rosie is thinking so, certainly could her no movement in her tummy with stethoscope, but now can hear gurgling so things are shifting in there...

I'm glad her guts are starting to move, at least she is willing to eat a little by herself. I know how difficult it can be to get a syringe full of food into a reluctant piggy.Best of luck with the feeding x

Poor Meggy Moo, Bloat isn't fun for anybody. Any idea's what's caused it? I hope she recover's quickly from her episode it's always worrying but she's in the best hands. :) x

Well Moo only lost 3 grams overnight so she was defiantely eating her Timothy Hay, If she wasn't eating I would have been expecting alot more... We also had Poo's this morning but battled to get 5ml of CC in her before we left the house, she is a nightmare to syringe feed. I know I shouldn't but I offered her 2 sprigs of parsley she ate them so she at least has the desire for food back. She is all medicated up and has plenty of her favourite hay to see her through the day.

Unfotunately we have no idea what caused it, can only guess at a piece of white cabbage instead of green. Her eco system is so delicate...

Thanks again for everyones vibes, I think she is over the worst of it. x

Sending Miss Moo lots of healing hugs - hope little madam is feeling ok.
I often give any poorly piggies the 'forbidden' stuff just to keep their gut moving...has she had dandelion leaves or grass as I always think they perk a poorly piggy up ? Ranitidine (Zantac) worked really well when Harley refused to eat back in February after his bladder washout and think Emeprid is the same kind of stuff so hope it works on Meggy :) Massage and a little car ride often eases any bloat, I've stood for hours rocking ours like babies :x
Lots of hugs x

Yes, we've been using Zantac too - I can't praise this stuff enough. I just wish more vets knew how great a gut stim it is to use in conjuction with emeprid as they work on different parts of the guts. I honestly think it saved Treacle, when she bloated the once. We will always use it from now on during bloat.

@Guineapigslave - how is your new place?
