Mowbray is with the rodentologist for intensive treatment. It all started with snorty breathing. She was really struggling to breathe. And had difficulty eating. (She'd been a bit dental for the last year or so, had to have her teeth trimmed 3 or 4 times). Then she started to look a bit purple around the lips (last weekend). Heart problem? They're keeping her comfortable but it doesn's look hopeful. Meanwhile her sister Melton is now all by herself. Tehy've never been apart. I've heard stories of piggies dying of lonliness/ broken heart when their companions leaves. She's not in great health either. She's just getting over a recurring abscess. I'm worried.

BIG HUG

It is a tough time for you and your two girls. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you can all make it. I am sure that you are fussing over Melton as much as you can! She will know that her sister is not well at all.

sorry to hear about mowbray fingers crossed for her. Do you know anyone near who has piggies too? Perhaps you could borrow them for a while just to have next door to melton for her to talk to so she isn't lonely? X x

Could you speak to a local rescue and see if they have a lone pig who you could "foster" and have next to Melton? Then she would at least have some more piggy company

Really sorry to hear this, big hugs to you and Melton - how's she doing? x

so sorry to hear that. hope * are all ok. sending big hugs, xx

Melton's doing ok

Melton's ok. A bit quiet, which is understandable considering she has no one to "talk" to. I'm looking into getting her a new companion. She's been getting lots of cuddles and dandelions to keep her wheeking. Been in contact with Crawley guinea pig rescue. Jenny there thinks we can find a suitable piggy to keep Mel company.

We did Mowbray's funeral on Wednesday (couldn't get down to the rodentologist to collect her until then). I lined a shoe box with hay and put a little parsley in there (for the journey). She was wrapped in a pillow case. I blew dandelion seeds over the grave. It seemed like a nice touch. Even my husband had a little cry. He chose Mow when we first went to see them when they were born.
:(

I've had one pig have depression and self harm after losing his friend, my old vets advice was a lot of attention and veg and perhaps a teddybear.

I tried the teddy thing. I put a guinea pig teddy in there and she kind of attacked it and threw it around. It was weird.

I'm so sorry about your little one. Try to take comfort in the fact you have done everything possible. I lost my favourite pig today, too.
