Hello, I was the proud owner of Tucker, a male guinea pig. He wasn't just any guinea pig, he was my best friend. When I bought him he was really shy and nervous... Took me about a year to get him use to me. His death was sudden, his back molars grew wrong because his front teeth were to long. He was almost 5 years old when he past a week ago. I miss him so much. Any advice on how I can cope with this easier?

Hello and a warm welcome to you.

I'm so sorry that you have lost such a beloved family member. I have moved this thread to the Rainbow Bridge section of the forum where we support each other at times like these. Tucker was obviously a very lucky piggy to have such a devoted slave. And it's natural to mourn his passing. Take time to grieve his loss and be kind to yourself. Remember him at his best. Popcorn free Tucker x

If I got another piggy would it help? I know I'll never find another "Tucker" but will it help my depression?

I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Tucker. Love and loss are two sides of the same coin, we will never experience one without the other. I promise in time the rawness of the pain you feel inside will ease. We do heal, even if it feels like you won't at the moment. if you feel you'd like to physically speak to someone the Blue Cross run an Animal Bereavement line Pet Bereavement Support

When we lose them suddenly the loss can hit us even harder as we have not got used to them been poorly and the thought of them leaving us never crosses our minds. Take time to be kind to yourself. Maybe make a memory box for Tucker with some photos and things in.

Huge hugs

Sleep well little one

RIP Tucker

He is wonderful and so handsome and you tamed him through showing him so much love and he will have loved you so much. I think they get a wonderful bond with their owners. If you feel like crying, cry as I think it really helps, you have lost something so special to you, something that there isn't two of as guineas are so unique. To be five you looked after him and should be proud of that.

I think having another piggy to focus on would help. They will never replace tucker but if you feel you've got room for another piggie in your heart then I'd say go for it xx
