With help from @Tim and his fostering goodness (you lucky boys Hans and Otto!) we now have space for five new piggies arriving this week. Two have arrived today.

Their owner can not afford Jitterbugs vets bills, and along with starting a new jobs working nights could no longer care for them.

Both 4.4yo sows, neither had names so they are now Jitterbug and Boogie!
Weighing in at around 1.2kg each they’re big girls, but blimey we’ve never seen two pigs so down in the dumps :(

Jitterbug has a very large lump near her bottom which we believe may be a cyst, however it causes her some pain to touch. The previous vet gave her Baytril (?) and Metacam, two days left but will get them both to the vets ASAP for a check up and a proper look at Bug’s lump!
Boogie has Osseus Metaplasia in both eyes, both of which protrude profusely. Both are very scurfy and puffed up, and appear partially sighted or even blind.

They’ve settled in nicely though and are both sitting in the hay tray happily munching away together. Their owner informed us green beans are their favourites... and boy can we attest to that!

So everyone, meet Jitterbug (black and white) and Boogie (brown and white)! We’ll get some better pictures once they’ve settled in.

Such adorable girls they are  In need of a good bath though, and a tidy up of their feet (a bit pooey and Boogie's are swollen)! A bit snotty too bless. They cheered right up when they saw the hay tray!
Their owners were really nice folks and brought a huge bag of veggies along for them

Aww. It is so rewarding seeing guinea pigs blossom. Lucky girls being in your care. Well done Tim for stepping to foster.

The little ladies are back from the vets! Poor mite's have a catalogue of foibles bless them :(
Both girls have mild bumblefoot (boogie in her front paws and jitterbug in her back ones). Their feet did have some poop on and boogie is very urine stained so I suppose it's no wonder really :/
Jitterbug's lump the vet believes is a trichoepithelioma ( kind of like a cyst filled with some hair too) which at present is ok to stay where it is! It's not malignant and doesn't seem to bother her, but it is very large!
Boogie's buggy eyes: her actual eyes are clear, but they do get worse if she is tipped downwards even a little, so the vets has suggested it may be due to high blood pressure which she's seen in rabbits before, or possibly something compressing a blood vessel.
Jitterbug's eyes are very cloudy and don't show any reactions so it's likely she's either very poorly sighted or blind :( She's got lots of spurs too. She's very 'lights-are-on-but-no-one's-home', the vets says there's not much going on in there :D
But both of their chests and hearts sounded good! So that's something.
They are going to need a very special retirement home :luv:

Those lovely ladies sound like they have arrived with you in good time to enjoy their final years. I’m sure they will flourish under your excellent care.

Thanks Vicki :luv:
They're the sweetest girls, still very blank though! They are coming out of their shells slowly though, and have decided they don't like carrot but like green beans!

Aww what beautiful little poppets,:love: i love the golden oldies, at least they'll get some proper healthcare now. What a catalogue of issues they have! :(
Loving that belly shot... it's a raspberry blowing opportunity waiting to happen:roll:
xx
