messy bum?

my sonny keeps on having a bit of poo smeared around his anus, is this normal? i check twice a day incase he gets hay stuck there (which he does at least once a week)

is he ok and just not fond of washing himself?
 
When you say round his anus do you mean slightly above it? I know male piggies have a grease gland there that can look brown and mucky, if this is what it is then you need to try and clean it as it can get sore underneath otherwise, i use some fairly liquid on the area when giving my boys a bath and gently comb the grease spot out.

If it is mucky actually round his anus then he could have diahorrea, are his poops formed? Might be worth getting your vet to check him over if this is the case, although I'm sure other members will have lots of good advice! :)
 
its literally around the whole and testes, his poops are fine! i clean him with a cotton bud in water. x
 
hmm...i have no idea then sorry! Sure someone else will do though! x
 
I'm wondering if he's not eating all his soft pellets or he's sitting on them. If his pellets are normal & he's not got diarrhoea then i'd not worry :)
 
Yeah he's probably sitting on them Claire. Twinks does this! He knows what he is doing, white belly, poop...bath time! :))

This sounds normal to me - he sounds like a typical lazy boy. Can't even be bothered to stand up to poo!
 
yeah,maybe. he knows when he needs to be cleaned, he stands up at the front of the cage and stars at me! then he starts chewing the bars, then he starts bobbing his head up and down! sooo funny, as though he wants to get my attention, then he knows that he doesn't really want to be cleaned, he makes me laugh, cheeky boiboi x
 
yep sounds normal to me - my two had their bum clean on sunday night, its already pooey again! stinky bottoms!
 
hehe, naughty boys. well,i cleaned sonny's yesterday, it's mucky again, smeared everywhere! well,i maybe exaggerating there!
