I am having a real problem getting metacam into the syringe the vet gave me, I am supposed to give Barbra a dose a day to help with the pain but when I syringe it into the metacam syringe it doesn't all go into her mouth. is there an easier way? it is not the syringing itself that is the problem it is the syringe; it seems to have a space at the end where it fits onto the bottle.

perhaps I am doing something wrong?

I put two drops on to a piece of cucumber when bumble had a sprained foot.

It isn't just you, I had the same problem and hate the metacam syringe! I decant the metacam into another container that can be sealed (I use little bottles designed to hold urine samples!) And then syringe it up from that using a standard 1ml syringe.

I have also put the required drops onto a metal spoon and then put a couple of drops of water and then sucked that up and given to our piggies before :)

I use the same trick as Glynis, works a treat - someone needs to re-design Metacam bottles/syringes!

I put ours into a steralized little container which had a lid and just put a few drops in at a time.Metacam isnt liscenced for guinea piggies-its mainly used for cats so thats why its difficult for us piggie owners to use.

What I do is attach the syringe you get given to the dropper thing on the bottle and get however much you need. Then get a 1ml syringe and attach that onto the end of the Metacam syringe at transfer it. Hope that makes sense, it's just a little trick that my vet taught me, and it's made my life so much easier!
