Hi! My guinea pig is about 7 and a half. I took her to the vet for a problem with her legs and was prescribed 0.35mL of Metacam 1.5mg/mL for every 12 hours. That's a 0.525mg dose every 12 hours. I thought that guinea pigs were usually treated with 0.5mg/mL and that maximum dosage was supposed to be 0.2mg/kg. She's only 650g, so by that guideline she should only be having 0.130mg every 24 hours.
Opinions? Should I give her less? Or call and ask what to do?

I saw somewhere on this forum that the approved Metacam dosage had been increased recently for guinea pigs. Can anyone give me some concrete information about that?
Thank you!

Have you been given cat or dog metacam? Dog metacam is 3 times the strength of cat metacam, which your metacam sounds like it is?

It's in an unmarked bottle but dog metacam is 1.5mg/mL.
