Does anyone on here use the kebab skewer things in their guinea pig catches? I was thinking of getting one for Rupert for Christmas as I've seen a really cute one online. However I am now starting to think it might be a little bit dangerous to have a metal spike-type thing hanging down in the cage. I know there is a stopper thing at the bottom (primarily to stop food/treats falling off I guess), but just wondered if anyone has any good/bad views on these before I buy one and then learn it's a big No-No. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have one but I only use it every now and again. The boys have no trouble using it and there's a blunt, rounded twisty bit on the bottom, under the stopper so there are no sharp bits. The only issue I've had is that I only got one and the boys refuse to share :)

Thanks gus+walter that has put my mind at rest and I will buy one. Perhaps if I only use it occasionally it will increase the fun and excitement!

It is a lot of fun for them, especially with apple and carrots so they can't just rip them off :)

Yeah, Rupert always eats his favourites first so I'm thinking of being a bit of a meanie and putting them further up so he has to eat the lowest ones first. He's a bit cheeky (and a bit clever too) so will probably just break off the lower ones to get to his faves!
