Hey guys. So I left for Thanksgiving and had a pet sitter and while I was go e his cage kind of caved in on itself and a bag of treats fell in, and he ate some of it. The bag, that is. It's an oxbow simple rewards bag of treats and I cannot tell if it has tin foil in it. Does anybody know/ know what I should I do? I don't know how long ago it was either.

Sorry this thread hasn't been answered earlier.

I remember previous threads when a guinea pig eats the bag rather than the contents . It's not ideal but the guinea pig is usually OK.

Just keep an eye on him and make sure he is eating and poo'ing OK

Joe ate bubble-wrap once :mal: I thought it was high up enough that he couldn't reach it but... well, he's quite the stretchy-pig when he wants to be XD He was totally fine though, so I wouldn't worry too much unless he gets poorly!

I have had guineas that have eaten all sorts...funnily enough bubble wrap seems to be a firm favourite when they can reach it! Corex is another. One dragged a whole piece of bubble wrap down from a window, which I thought was way out of reach, to this day I don't how how she did it! Another ate a huge hole in the side of a bag of readigrass overnight, she must have pushed her head through the C&C as hard as she could to get to it (the same one who had the bubble wrap fetish), was a bit of a houdini and a hooligan!

I only had one get into trouble when he decided to eat his fleece bed (one of those stuffed sofa things). He was very sick overnight and would not eat. We rushed him to the vet and with some painkiller and medication to get his tummy working properly (Emeprid I think) he was fine. He never ate his bed again though even when I finally risked putting it in again (the others liked to sleep on it too). Naughty boy.

Hmmm mine like the non-edible stuff. We have had similar with a bag of hay left too close to their cage, the rubber bit off the dustpan which was again just within nibble-reach, the plastic igloo got nommed quite a bit too! Just keep a check on the piggies and continue to monitor their health as normal, I'm sure they will be fine :)

:D You'd think that Guinea pigs have cast iron stomachs, looking at some of the stuff that they eat without getting sick! I am using Simple Solution disposable puppy training pads in two litter trays, and the edges seem to be irresistible! The plastic backing from the washable ones has also been attacked! Yet no-one has been sick. Amazing!
