Okay so another problem. Will he ever be healthy?
I just went to change his pee pads and noticed that they are orange and in some places reddish brown. The pee pads are almost always brown once the pee oxidizes. At first I thought it was blood. However, he has a toy that is a carrot which he has been chewing A LOT lately. It has a lot of orange dye in is it possible its due to this? He also just ended those antibiotics. Any ideas? He doesn't seem to be in any distress at all. He's eating and drinking fine. He doesn't squeal when he pees at all. Putting him on pee watch for now.

Sounds like he might have an infection or he might not be getting enough water. I would take him to a vet soon.

Hes definitely getting enough water. I called the vet. She said it's probably because he was irritated from the antibiotics. He also just ate some of the pee pad which means be ate some of the chemicals. I feel like the worst owner. He always seems to be sick and I follow everybody's advice, have done so much research on how to care for guinea pigs, I just don't get it.

I have been keeping guinea pigs as pets for over 20 yrs, not that I am a pro but I have had enough piggies in my time to say I have had male guinea pig or two have issue like that and it ended up being an infection. Not saying he has one. I am sure you are a great pet owner. I would say just keep an eye on him for a day or two and if his pee is still the same color to take him to the vet. GP pee should be a milky color.

just a thought, could a mixture of wee and poo be part of the cause of this ?

Agree that he needs checking for an infection if it continues but it could be related to something he has eaten. Have you noticed him squeaking when he pees? What antibiotic was he on?

I do not think it is a combo of wee and poo because that has never happened before. The vet said it could be an infection but it is unlikely because he was just on Azythromycin. She said it could have been irritation from that. He is acting totally normal. Eating, drinking, no squeaking when he pees. I had him on pee watch and it seemed normal. So I am not sure. If it continues now that he has finished his antibiotics, I will take him in to the vet, but like I said, he was just on antibiotics.

Does anybody think it could be bladder stones? He is not even a year old...

Unlikely as he's probably be crying when weeing/popping if there was a stone causing enough irritation to colour his urine. If you are concerned then you can get your vet to ultrasound his bladder which will show any thickening from interstitial cystitis or tumour and but an X-ray is the only sure fire way to spot stones...

Some antibiotics can cause the wee to change colour to reddish/orange so it may be the result of the antibiotics rather than infection. I can't remember off hand which ones but I know it scared me witless when one of mine started producing fluorescent orange wee on his bedding, however it was just a drug reaction and nothing to worry about. It did look like he was peeing highlighter pen ink though!
