my guinea pig jumped from myu arms the other day and when he hit the ground he was just screaming and he wasn't using his back legs, he was just draggin them behind them. and then the next day he was chewing on them and we can see the bone. we went to the vet and he said that his feet were num and it would go a way in a while, and we needed to wrap his feet so he wouldn't chew on them. weel its been a month or so and he's still draggin his feet.

does anyone know what we should do

i am so scared that I'm going to walk in my house and find him dead. :'(

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I haven't had an experience where my guinea has fallen but my guinea has lost the use of her back legs since January (due to a stroke I think). The vet said it might be nerve damage and this can take a long time to heal. She had no circulation in her legs or feeling but now has both. I have been giving her Potters Tabritis one a day crushed and syringed with water and also she has a chewable vitamin c tablet everyday. I hope this helps and maybe someone who has had a similar experience to you may be able to help.

Err... you've let your guinea pig go about like this for a month? It should have been back at the vet within a day if nothing had improved. Did the vet do an x-ray? Either that or you should have found a different vet. Get the poor thing to a decent vet, there is nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you can do for it at home, it sounds like he has been seriously injured.

I have taken her to several vets and no one wants to help me. I've been told its nerve damage and a delay between space/time.

I think it sounds like your pig is in terrible pain :( Think you should go back to the vet

thank you but daftscotslass
i have tried many different vets and most tell me the same thing but i will try once again thank you

I don't think any vet near me would just say "his feet are numb" and leave it at that. INSIST on an x-ray - if there is no break then there is more of a chance that he could recover. Where are you located?

As starla says it sounds like your piggy is in terrible pain - the fact that he's mutilating himself shows this too.

welcome to the forums from us in oz :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: am so sorry to hear about your piggy. :'( :'( :'( can understand your frustration with vets :tickedoff: do you have a rescue centre near you? maybe they could suggest a vet for you :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: i do think you should get a xray or ultrasound and see if there is any damage done to the spine etc. O0 i know you have done everything for your baby and taken him to a few vets, but just see if there is a rescue centre near you or at the time of health there is a thread recomended vets see if one is need you. O0 sending you both hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-* and welcome again and wishing you luck, will say special prayers for you and your baby. 0:) :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
