I am typing this in tears, my darling skinny pig Millie was found collapsed in her cage and she was so still and cold that I thought we had lost her.

We rushed her to the vets and they have told us it is not likely she will survive. I have to call in a hour to see if she is still alive. They have put her on oxygen, on a heat pad and given her antibiotics.

No idea what has caused this as she was her usual demanding vocal self this morning. If I lose her I will be devastated.

I'm so sorry to hear about Millie :( after losing my skinny boar last week i know how anxious you must feel, every finger and paw is crossed for Millie's recovery, sending you big hugs x

It is the sitting at home waiting bit I hate I just wish I could be doing something to help or even to just be there to keep her company.

i know how heartbreaking and frustrating the wait is but she's in the right place and I'm sure they will do everything they can for her xx

Oh Gosh what a shock, did they say what had happened. Hope that Millie pulls through poor girl. :(

Just saw this! I do hope she's ok. She's in the best hands. Thinking of Millie and you the waiting is horrible!

Let us know when you hear xx

I am so sorry - my fingers are crossed for poor Millie!

BIG HUG

I'm so sorry to hear this, I really hope she is ok!

I have my fingers and toes crossed for you and Millie.

Hope she's okay bless her and you x

I am so sorry to hear about Millie. I do hope that she manages to pull through somehow.

I am totally overwhelmed!

At half six we got a call to say that she was up and about and that they were happy for her to come home!

The vet had never seen anything like it and said that after half an hour in the incubator with a heat pad and a glucose injection she was trying to escape.

When I found her she was stone cold and I thought she had gone, it was my husband that noticed she was barely breathing. So glad that we got her to the vets when we did.

Since she has got back she has been popcorning and racing about while wheeking at the top of her lungs :))

Now we are racking our brains trying to figure out what caused her to get soooooo ill soooo quickly. They have plenty of food, hay and water. The cage has lots of snuggle sacks etc and the heating has been on 24/7 and the cage is in a warm sheltered spot. I am so worried that it will happen again, I keep going to stare at the wee soul.

Thank goodness she is ok. That is very odd, hopefully someone will have an idea what it was all about :)

Oh how lucky for you, I'm glad she's better now, but what a shock! How odd though, I wonder what brought this on ?/

I'm so glad she pulled through! Good job you saw her when you did :)

Maybe pigs really do get seriously ill very quickly!

Very strange, wonder what happened! Did you see Tague?

Very pleased she is ok :)! xx

Not him but the vet that has dealt with our animals over the years. She said she had never seem anything like it. We were told to prepare ourselves for her not to make it to surgery closing.

I'm glad she's ok. Is it possible that she's diabetic? It sounds a bit like a hypo that a person would have (I have no idea how diabetes affects guinea pigs though). x
