Milo is poorly, his condition has rapidly detoriated over night. Even my other half could tell he was in a bad way and he isn't an animal person.

We're still battling his ongoing Uri, we've been back and forth to the vets. Long story short I spoke to the emergency vet who said if I thought it was time he would certainly help him on his way but guinea pig's can be resilient. We know about his teeth problems and he's booked in for his dental tomorrow. The only Metacam I had was out of date but thankfully I was able to get some more and since administering it within 5 minutes he went from puffed up refusing to eat to trying to eat everything in sight.

Can Metacam really kick in this quickly?

I really hope we can get him through this but Milo has certainly made his feelings known it's not time. He's just in a great deal of pain.

Here's hoping my little man can come out on top.

Hope Milo continues to improve. He certainly is a fighter. We're sure his two girls will help him through this. Get well soon Milo x x

You are better asking you vet about that , though even then it is anyones guess,

Hang on in there Milo

So sorry to hear Milo is very poorly - perhaps your vet can give you some vetegesic for him tomorrow (don't know the correct spelling ) Noodles was given this alongside metacam - she was given 0.1 every 8-10 hours - here hoping the handsome man is feeling better soon x

I just wondered as he responded so quickly to it.

He's slowing down again, I imagine the pain relief is wearing off.

He's been tackling hay all afternoon got him some alpha Timothy that's his favourite and he's definitely giving it a good go - just need to keep the food going into him to give him the best chance tomorrow.

You probably know already but you could ask for some Tramodol to help with the pain too, they can be given both together if they are in a lot of pain. Hang on in there Milo, sending you both lots of healing vibes xx

Thanks @Poppy'sMum.

I'm certainly more hopeful, I've gave him his 2nd dose of Metacam and he's sitting eating.

There's poo but it's not formed not surprising given how he looked earlier there certainly seems to be a combination of things going on with him at the moment. I'm just glad he appears stronger, which will give him his best chance tomorrow.

Just need him to keep rallying.

What type of Metacam & dosage are you giving him? Ours is dog Metacam, Petal weighs 1.3kg & we can give up to 0.6 ml twice a day if required, if that helps x

The vet told me 0.1 and a half this morning, and he's just had his second dose there.

I'm starting to think the mucus and snot from his nose may well be tooth related to going to ask the vet about it tomorrow.

No advice i'm afraid, but speedy recovery Milo & healing vibes by the bucketload coming your way. Fingers & paws all crossed :luv:
love the girls & I x

Thanks everyone, I've just had Milo out on the massaging pad as his tummy is quite a bit bloated especially since he didn't eat for quite a bit of yesterday and this morning. He's been eating himself all day with some encouragement, really hope he keeps it up over night. Good news is he is passing soft poo so hopefully the gut will start righting it's self.

Going to get up in a few hours to check on him.

Night and day - this was my little man last night.

Not a happy bunny at all.

This morning there is a marked improvement in his eating and how he holds himself.

We're just about to set off for his apt.

Thinking of you both - still remember that "because I'm worth it " photo of Milo you posted years ago - and the c & C grids I got from you - fingers crossed xx

Milo is booked in for 11.30 for his teeth and Xray's. Turns out the reason for such a quick detoriation was the onset of an inner ear infection my little man most certainly is up against it.

The dental has went well and he's round but he's very poorly as he's battling so many different ailments. We'll know more over the next 48 hours.

I'm currently at the pharmacy getting him his Zithromax.
