i have started using milton to sterilise the piggies bowls and bottles. is once a week ok? obviously i clean and rinse them everyday anyway.

i follow the instructions and rinse well after.

is it ok to fill with water again straight after sterilising and rinsing well? i'm always scared they will be drinking bits of milton, even when i have rinsed it lots! mallethead

i do the bowls aswell, is this ok?

I rinse, and rinse and rinse and rinse and rinse a bit more just for good luck. However, (I am rather old) but I'm sure when I used to sterilise my babies (real babies) bottles, they just used to come out of the steriliser ready for use?

yes, it does say there is no need to rinse anything after, but i always do anyway because i am paranoid! rolleyes

it is fine. I use it and rinse first but only a quick rinse. It is safe for babies to use without rinsing so for pigs to use them after rinsing will be perfedtly fine!

haha i had to laugh!

I use Milton for Oliver (real baby). I take stuff straight out of the diluted solution, dry it well and he's been a healthy baby...

Paediatricians will also say that if you wash your baby/pet feeding paraphernalia in the dishwasher (on the hot setting), there's little need to sterilise afterwards because the water is so hot it kills all the germs anyway.

no room for a dishwasher here! worlds smallest kitchen! :))

i'm really weird and could never use plates or cups etc that had been washed in the dishwasher at my mum and dads! it had this weird taste and smell which made me heave! :{ :)) useless bit of info for you there! :red

i don't like the feel of glasses that have been through the dishwasher, it makes my teeth grit... urgh...:)>>>

Sorry to hijack your thread but was just wondering if anyone knows.....

Is it ok to sterilise metal items in Milton? (e.g. metal spout of water bottle lid)

this thread had just reminded me - i'm all out of milton, and i haven't been able to find it in Omagh.

Just ordered off ebay :))

Hi i was wondering this myself but apparently not, you are supposed to avoid prolonged contact with metal.

I do my tops, but only soak in a mild solution for about 10 mins. I found any longer or stronger seems to affect the gluey stuff that joins the metal spout to the plastic toppy bit. x

I think you have to be very careful with the metal bits ... otherwise if you follow the instructions like you would for your babies bottles then you can't go wrong.
