Last night I was checking Mimsi for impaction, and noticed some blood on his willy and a white object protruding. I went on to remove the following from his penis. The objects are rubbery like and dont disintegrate when rubbed. I have a vets appointment at 1.50 today. Whatever it is, it stinks and I'm wondering if this has been the cause of his illness this week?

In this photo the syringe was placed to give a scale to the size of the object.

I think that's boar glue - had something similar once from one of my boars..scared me rigid because at first I thought it was a worm but then realised how robust/rubbery it was..and yes, stinky winky :)>>>!

Hopefully this is the cause of his current problems and he should now perk up- he may have a sore willy for a few days though.

Blegh! Boys are disgusting! BUT SOOOO CUTE!! :p

On a different note (and please excuse my ignorance) but how do you check for impaction?:red

His willy is a bit swollen and pinkish today but no wonder. When I was pulling the object out, it seemed to go on forever. He is a bit smelly round his bits and bum today but will let the vet have a good look at him...

impaction is in the back passage where poops get trapped and are not expelled. You need to press either side of the anus to expose the area and remove and gunk and trapped poos. There are some great articles here on previous threads about impaction, its well worth having a look in case your piggie becomes impacted..

Poor boy, i would imagine that has played a big part in how he has been lately, bless him, i hope he feels better soon.

Would nuetured boars get this? (Sorry if that seems like a stupid question)

Oh my goodness, that must have been really uncomfortable for him. I check mine every few days and pray I don't find any, luckily so far I haven't or I'd :)>>>

I always checks my boys back ends and willies regularly as Mimsi once had a large bit of hay wrapped around his penis and that scared me so I made it part of my daily care routine for them..This object must have been so far up, I always expel the penis completely and it wasnt there earlier in the day, or at least not far down enough for me to see it. I just hope the vet is competent and knows what it is and whether Mimsi needs any treatment..

Oh blimey, that must have been painful.

I know, he did yelp when I was pulling it out. I just wonder where it was before it became visible yesterday. I'm hoping this was the cause of his illness and that he can now get all better.

Awww poor Mimsi, that must have been painful.

Hope it may be whats been causing him to be so ill and he improves. Hope the vets goes ok. Thinking of him.

Ouch :( I bet he feels a whole lot better now for having those removed ?/ - very well done. It's threads like this that give others the knowledge and vigilance to be alert in what causes our little furries to be off colour :(
I check my boys for impaction regularly as I'm paranoid about it happening so agree it is always good to give them a thorough check over in their nether regions :x
Thanks for alerting us to this, will help other boar slaves tremendously.
Good luck at the vets and hugs to brave Mimsi x>>

Just back. The vet said it is 'boar gunk' . He said it is probably this made mimsi have the symptoms he had, depending on where the mass was before I removed it. He had a feel of Mimsis kidneys and bladder and said they felt fine. He also had a good look at his penis and said there is no more gunk. He told me that the penis will be swollen for a few days and to give his area a bath. He said there is no sign of infection and didnt give anti biotics. I checked Mimsis records when I was there and he is definately over 8. The vet said he was amazing for his age. So, its back to just keeping an eye on him and making sure he is drinking properly.

ooooh... my Bertie used to get those very often... he too had impaction...
