Sarah from Chucklebunnies
Adult Guinea Pig
Here is Mina, eating lettuce. It was the best way to get a close up shot as she moves very fast!
And here she is next to her adopted Mum Columbine so that you can see how big she is now...(Columbine is not a big piggy, just over 1kg)
I think she's grown a bit, certainly around the tummy! She can no longer easily fit into the rotostak that held veg for her so I can't use that anymore, but that doesn't matter now anyway as she has found her feet and is no longer backwards in coming forwards when there are veggitibbles on offer! She is still adventurous, popcorns happily a fair amount of the time, but there is less zooming round now. Just a bit, every now and then.
Carmilla has had one or two sort of attempts at putting the baby in her place (this is normal herd behaviour because Carmilla was the bottom of the pecking order before so the one that has now moved up a space always dominates the new bottom piggy) but not real proper attempts. Mina is occupying an interesting space in the herd, she is still small enough physically to be seen as a baby but is actually getting fairly grown up now. Once in season she doesn't even bother trying it on, she rumbles at her Mum, gets told off, and then runs off to a corner to 'be on her own and sulk'. If she could, I think this one would paint the conservatory black and put up posters, she is not having an easy teenage time of it.
She adores her cuddles, would wander off along the furniture just to see what's 'over there' all the time if allowed, but still lies out full length along you to get the most from being stroked.
So - settling in tolerably well, gaining in confidence and making her own place in the herd. Putting on girth rather than length, with no growth spurts at all. There's plenty of time yet for her to catch up though, 4 months is nowhere near full grown.
