I managed to get a photo of the patch on little Zeus as I can't bring him to see you until I'm lurgy free. He's tucking into his dinner at the moment so I don't want to interupt him as he could do with putting some weight on :)). Odin, Ares and Thor are fine

I know you posted this for petcrazy but thought I'd be nosey and have a look rolleyes it looks as though it may be a fungal infection to me

He's having a bath with Nizoral but only a very tiny amount as he was 4 weeks old yesterday. It certainly hasn't affected his appetite or his ability to race at 60mph round his cage :))

Is that ringworm (fungal)? I can't see it properly, but has it got small patches of scabby skin?

skin problem

My guinea pig Harlow suffers from very dry skin which of late has irritated him so much that hes been scratching and biting and hes broken all the skin which has let to infection, hes got bald patchs from this and i know these wounds hurt him alot as he likes to tel me when i pik him up.he had this problem b4 but not as bad and with a shot from the vet it cleared up but now its alot more severe.because of this hes become reluctant to cum out of his cage and is less friendly,if i try take him outta his cage hel giv out to me and tel me he doesnt want to.he had a visit with the vet last week and had to have a skin scraping which was very traumatic for him,he screamed so much and so loud,it broke my heart to c my little guy in pain,he got another shot which hurt him alot also and the vet gave me sum antibacterial wash for his bath 3 times a week, hes due back to the vet 2moro for another shot which i dont like to do bcos its gunna hurt him but i just want him to get better.keep an eye on your little guys skin,i wouldnt like to see yours with this problem as harlows started out dry with bald patches.if any1 has experienced this with ther boys r girls id love to know and seek some advice from *you also as id do anything to help him get better.

It's like a large hairless dry patch with small scabs on. If it's ringworm what can I give him for it?

Treatment for ringworm is typically the same as for any other fungal infection, I believe - baths once weekly for 3 weeks is the first step. If it seems to be restricted to a small area, you can also consider applying an anti-fungal cream e.g. Daktarin Cream, 2-3x daily, continuing with it for 5 days after it the skin has cleared up

I'll see if the Nizoral works. Once I'm no longer infectious I'll take him round to Donna and see what she thinks (means I get to see the 7 new piglets too :) not that I need an excuse!)

Typical really, after bringing the mini pigs round to see you Sunday another 2 of them decided to catch this fungal infection yesterday. It was Ares who had it to start with (I couldn't tell them apart :red) and now Zeus and Odin have it too. I've given them all a bath with the Nizoral today including Thor so can I apply the Bepanthen after they have had their tea or do I need to wait 24 hours?

Odin has this red scab which none of the others have as well

Pictures not brilliant but mini pigs wriggle so much and this was the only one which didn't come out fuzzy
