Hiya, I noticed that my little pigle Persephone has fairly scurfy skin and has been scratching... also a lillte hair los...
When her mum came in, we suspected she'd be carrying external parasites due to the conditions that she came from and the condition of the other pigs there.
We held off treatment until after she'd had her piglet, as she wasn't scratching...
The Piglet Persephone is now 6 weeks old... does anyone know if she's too young for ivermectin? I've got some gorgeous guineas lice & easy shampoo - is she too young for this too?
I will be taking her to a vet, but wanted to have the correct info before I get there :)
Ta!

I'd ask Chrissie at GG about the shampoo - there is a special mini pig shampoo, which might be best.

I got given Xeno 450 at the vets for my older pigs, my youngest was too young (6 weeks) and they had to order in Xeno Mini 50 especially - which took a few days and you have to buy a box of 9! So not cheap.

oh - ok... I'd better ring them up to order it in now then! thanks!

I would wait and check with the vets first - because the hair loss might be something else and the Ivermectin might not treat it.

Give Chrissie a ring - her stuff is kind to the skin and might solve your problem! Good luck
