A lot of you have followed my previous threads about Minky's abscess & it's return.

She had 1st op on May 15th and it all appeared to be healing well till earlier this week I noticed her neck was a little swollen. It actually felt like a bag with a couple of dice inside. It got bigger so I booked her back into the vet's. I was pretty certain that she was going to have another operation so wasn't surprised when her vet, Penny said that she would operate straightaway.

Anyway the op went well on Friday & I picked Minky up at 4 pm. She was quite perky & hungry. Penny has left a drain hole in between the stitches & it is possible that this may have to be a permanent feature.

After 2 days she's still fine & totally opposite to post-op last time when 3 lost weight in the days following the op. This time she's actually gained weight over the corresponding period. I'm giving her plenty of choice of food & normally when any of my piggies are in a run by themselves they tend to eat less but Minky is the opposite. She's weeing & pooing OK & eating like she's returned from a fast.

I've been told to keep her away from the other piggies till I take her back to see Penny on Wednesday. She's now in the convalescent run on the floor of the conservatory with a choice of three hiding places including a loan of Minnie's Strawberry house. Here she is eating food outside her fleece cosy:-

He she is sat on the sofa eating just before I gave her her meds this morning, you can see the operation wound with drain hole in middle area:-

Poor little girl, glad she is doing well. She is in great hands with you and her run looks absolutely fantastic and comfortable. Lots of healing vibes to her.

Sending lots of "get well" wishes to her - she's certainly looking good in those pictures.

Thanks to all the above who have sent Minky well wishes.

I've just given her a dandelion leaf with her Metacam on it & she's eaten some veggies & dry food. She virtually the same weight as yesterday in pounds & ounces but 1 gram heavier. So that's 3 rises in weight in the 3 days since her op. The wound is healing well though the drain hole isn't very clear to see. I have noticed a few stain marks around her run which are probably dried pus. She's due back at the vets on Wednesday morning but is there anybody out there who's had experience with this type of op which has a hole left to drain the pus. Do you need to break the scab or just leave it to nature.

Get well soon gorgeous lady! I hope Minnie doesnt get annoyed you stole her strawberry :-P

Thanks Beks. I don't use their houses much in the summer. They either have fleece cozies or make a bed in the hay. She seems happy most of the time to snuggle up with Mitch.

What a brave girlie you have! Abscesses can be such a pain to deal with, my boy Fudge had one and it kept returning for a while till we finally saw it off! She is looking fantastic, and great she's chowing down her food, one less thing to worry about :)) Sending lots of healing wheeks and vibes to Minky x

Aww bless her, hope she recovers to be free of these damn absesses once and for all.x>>

Minky is still recovering well from her op & is bright & bubbly today. She put on 45 grams since yesterday which seems a lot. She's weeing & pooing but I noticed that her abscess is bigger.

When she had her 1st op on May 16th her weight was 1.315 Kg then over next 4 days it went down:- 1.264 Kg, 1.259 Kg, 1.253 Kg then 1.263 Kg.

Before her 2nd op on June 28th her weight was 1.284 Kg then over the next 4 days it has gone up:- 1.296 Kg, 1.297 Kg, 1.298 Kg then 1.343 Kg today.

The only thing I can think is that part of the increase is because the abscess has grown. Should I be worrying about this? She's booked into the vet's tomorrow morning
