I took Minky back to the vet's today for post op check-up following her abscess op. on Friday.
The hole that had been left to drain the pus had closed over so they had to give her gas & do a quick opening up. In all it just took 15 minutes & I took her straight back home.
I've been told to keep the hole open by using a cotton bud with clean water on a daily basis.
After Minky was settled back in at home, Sue & I went to Bunny Burrows to drop in the money from the Topsy Turvy Doll Draw & also take in a few items for Gwen to sell on ebay. We got there and it was cleaning out day so as we had a couple of hours spare we helped with this.
Anyway that was going off the subject a little. I talked to one of the girls about Minky's problem & she's had the same with one of her rabbits. She used honey on the drain hole to keep it clean & keep it open so I wondered has anyone else done this? Later on I was speaking to Gwen and she mentioned the same thing. I know that honey was used on wounds before medicine became what it is today so there must be something in this!
I'm going to try it in the morning but any info or links to more about this would be gratefully appreciated.
