I'm think I may have been sold miss sexed guinea pigs. I was after a couple of girls but I've noticed this morning that one of them has spent pretty much the whole morning trying to mount the other. I've looked myself but I can't be sure although I think there may be a slight difference with their bits and pieces. How obvious would it be? Also if one does turn out to be a boy what sort of price would it be to have hin neutered?

prices vary for neutering but to put your mind at ease maybe is that when in season one girl can mount another, my pair do it lol

You need to look through the forums here as I know theres been a link posted before on how to sex them and double check whether she is a he otherwise you'll have tons of babies. I'm getting Peter neutered next week and its costing £61.50

I think the guinea lynx website had pics to go by as well. I'm paying £55 shortly. Seems to be cheaper up north of country though, depending where you live, fingers crossed for you!

Yeah, I did think that about the two girls mounting each other, my dogs used to do it when I was a lad :)

I've got a picture in one of my books and it's obvious in there, but not so when I'm trying to check for myself.

I'll try to check out some other pics

I'm fairly sure after looking around at the links you guys posted I still have a Milly and Molly rather than a Milly and Max :) only time will tell I suppose :)

My 2 Girls do it often when they are in bum wiggling mode days.

It's really hard to sex them when they are so young, even my vet was like 'I'm pretty sure that's a testicle sac' (sorry that mightn't be the right word for it :red) Luckily he was right! It gets more obvious when they are older, but by that time it's too late!

I wanted to be 100% sure too so took them to vet who didn't charge for it

Hi! Sows rumble and mount when they are in season (about every two weeks). It can easily throw new owners. Here is more about sow behaviour:

I would strongly recommend to weigh your girls once weekly; it is one of the best ways to keep track of their health. It is also a good way to keep an eye out for a potential pregnancy, which is sadly not rare in shop piggies if they have not been separated properly in the shop or during transport. What you want to see is a fairly steady weight gain, not an increasing weight gain.
