We took Freja to the emergency vet on Friday because I noticed a lump on the side she has had a limp for a week. I've been giving her baby ibuprofen and massaging with ointment thinking it was a sprained muscle or something like it (advice from vet and the rescue I got her from). Unfortunately it was a really big internal tumour that now pushed her shoulder blade out and blocked movement of her front paw. The x-rays ruled out all options and the vet said it couldn't be surgically removed because it wrapped around her shoulder and there are too many blood vessels and nerves there. To be sure it would not grow back he said thay would have to take off a good portion of her side and there was no way she would survive that...
So she was put to sleep. I've never had to do that to a pet before and it was awful, I'm still crying. I wish I would have known more and been able to see signs before. These are my first piggies.
I'm a little sad the others don't seem to miss her, but I guess I'm glad too. I don't want them to be as miserable as I am...
