Don't mind me, this might turn into a bit of a ramble

I've been at uni now for just over a week and I can't believe how much I'm missing my piggies. My dad's looking after them all for me between my visits home and making sure everyone is happy and healthy but I wish I was there to do it!

Apparently the shed herd have now realised that car coming down drive = mummy's home and if they squeak loud enough they'll get a huuuuge bowl full of veggies. Einstein is getting free haircuts courtesy of someone (I've not yet figured out the culprit, but Einstein, Skye and Kalani have all had free hair cuts - Tess has almost totally avoided the mystery barber) which is good as it means he doesn't need brushing or bathing as often although I'm not too sure what he thinks of his new 'do! My boys and Chip and Teaser are also doing very well and making the most of the big piles of hay and veggies they're getting... tubby little monsters! Dad sent me this photo of them and their new bedding boxes - he's amazed how many piggies fit into one box!

The only thing I have here are photos of them to put on my walls. I really wish I wasn't in halls but in a house in town; I'd have taken my boys and Chip and Teaser with me to keep me company. I'm in a flat full of Chinese girls that don't speak very good English so I've made no friends here and I don't think I will. Most of my friends graduated and went back home in the summer. Sigh, I'd give anything to have a pair of pigs here to keep me company - I need something...alive... if that makes sense?

Sorry for the ramble, I guess I'm having a very lonely moment right now.

Hi hun, I know it's horrible, I hate being away from mine but think of it as the sooner you go, the sooner you get to come back and visit and the sooner it's all done, the sooner you get to graduate and do whatever it is you want, move back with them or get your own place - with them.

We all have lonely times like this but you can always come here when you feel like that. I do...

I completely CANNOT be without some kind of animal around me! Some of my pets, like my dog, live with my mum because I live in a flat with my boyfriend (I can't wait until next year when he finishes uni so we can move) but it means when I'm at my mum's I miss my piggles and other small fuzzies and when I'm at my flat I miss my dog. I'd reccommend finding a house next year that you can keep piggies at (always ask, these places say no on paper but yes when you ask). It's definitely worth it. I hope you can make some new friends soon so you feel less lonely and that you can get back home for some piggy cuddles before too long. :)

Luckily this is my last year at university. I don't tend to function very well on campus - my doctor likened it to depression that's linked to where I am rather than something that's with me all the time. My brain doesn't shut off so I'm constantly thinking, or wanting to think but have nothing to focus on and I don't sleep very well because of it which doesn't exactly help things. I'd be so much happier at home, with my pigs, but unfortunately commuting (despite the fact that I'm only an hour away by car) is too expensive - 2 hours each way by train and I don't drive.

I've never found it easy being away from my pets, but as I had a population explosion over the summer I have the added downer of feeling like I'm missing getting to know them all (I got my last piggy, very special little man just a few weeks ago) and missing the youngsters grow up.

Sigh. I might buy a couple of goldfish... Something alive that'll make this place a bit brighter!

That is very difficult for you. I am sorry you are living with people who do not speak your language as they tend to talk in their own one and really live people out. I find that so rude. I hope they make allowances for you. I am sure you will start to make your own friends and be able to settle in. You are brave to stick it out. Good luck.

Your piggies are GORGEOUS, how many have you got? Your comments about the mystery barber made me chuckle.
I feel for you being lonely. Is this your first year of Uni? It will take a while for you to settle, but you will. I remember when I moved to Germany with my hubby who was in the RAF, I was really homesick. People said it takes a few months to totally settle and get used to the change of life and they were right.
I hope you make some friends soon as Uni life can be very rewarding socially.
And you have all of us here to chat to too!
xx
