Poor little love. I hope I haven't celebrated too soon. She could be squealing when picked up due to fright - like being caught all over again, it may not be due to injuries. Her leg is obviously hurt, but hopefully that is something that will get better. Fingers very much crossed xx

Perhaps they will give her a body xray as well as her leg? See if there's anything of concern anywhere else. xx

Only just seen this. Thank God you found her :bronco:Hope her leg gets better soon.x

crikey... my heart was in my mouth reading all this.... So pleased she has been found.. poor little thing mustve been terrified .. lots of cuddles tonight xx

They don't think anything is broken. She's had a traumatic day and is spending tonight indoors in the quiet. On baytril and metacam and hopefully she can join the others tomorrow!
Thank goodness! Thank you for the update. Hope you can get some peace too, it's been a traumatic day for both of you. xx

Sorry to add to any stress.... did your vet offer pro-biotics too? If not it would be worth trying to pick some up from him tomorrow because otherwise the Baytril may give your guinea pig loose poos due to killing off the good bacteria in the gut as well as the bad. Probiotics should be given an hour or two after to antibiotics to re-populate the gut with the important good bacteria. xx

But don't worry about that tonight, just enjoy being with your guinea.... x

wow, thats really amazing you found her, well done for your persistence and getting her to a vet tonight as well. sending massive healing vibes xx

No, that wasn't mentioned. Are they expensive? I've shelled out £200 on vet bills this month and I'm struggling a bit now. Roll on Friday - payday!

No - not expensive and you can even get them from some pet stores.... I use pro-lapis originally prescribed by my vet but I found I can buy them on line quite cheaply.
Another pig-gut remedy is collecting poop from healthy pigs and putting them in with the poorly one, sometimes a poorly pig will eat the healthy pig's poop to aid its gut. Once you put the pigs together again you may even find yours attending to the bottoms of the other pigs, waiting for the best poops to pop out!
But probiotics are still important, and many vets forget to give them out.

Ohh I'm so glad you found her! and that shes not badly hurt :)

Also, a cat doesn't catch and kill things for 'fun' its their natural instinct to hunt things. Most cats wont go for a guinea pig because normally adult pigs are too large so they dont bother when they can catch mice, smal birds and things.

So happy you found her. Hope she gets better soon. You must feel great!:yahoo:

Oh I was feeling rat her upset when reading this but now seeing you found her :-) I hope she makes a quick recovery!

thank goodness you found her. i hope she will be ok and isn't too hurt or in shock. poor little sweetheart.

cats (and dogs and foxes) are more than capable of opening weak latches on hutch doors, usually those plastic catches or in some cases even those little bolts. i would advise adding proper bolts if you don't have them already.

i'm so so happy you have her back safely now though. having read a few similar things over the years, i was worried about a bad outcome. always such a relief to hear a lost pet has been found. x

Glad that you found her. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she gets over the shock and recovers well.

This thread is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. So glad the piggy turned up and hope she's feeling better soon x

Oh phew, I am so pleased that you got her back! My rabbits escaped a couple of times when I was younger, and the worry was horrendous!
I'm sure she's very relieved to be home and will be feeling better soon xx

Little monster managed to wiggle out under the hitch through a dent in the grass. Now they're on concrete so she can't do it again. She spent yesterday feeling sorry for herself but I bought some probiotic and she's much perkier today!

Hopefully she can rejoin the others tomorrow provided she is well enough to get up and down the run.

This has made me so happy, so glad you found her xx

Glad you've updated us, sounds like she'll be fine very soon, and I'm glad you've discovered the cause of her escape too! Put's your mind at rest knowing that you've now found the cause and prevented it from happening again. What a little monkey! Glad things will soon be back to normal for them and yourself x
