She has had some lumps in her side since she came home to us. Yesterday, she refused to eat any veggies for breakfast and I thought she was just being picky. I picked up her up and could feel new lumps all round her neck and in her legs. I made an appointment for the vets today and they confirmed that she has cancer. She has had steroids at the vets and has come home with tablets. We have another appointment for Monday afternoon and she is comfortable for now. She is eating some hay and drinking water, she has no interest in anything else. In fact she has slept for most of the day. I don't know the timescale for this but I don't think it would be right to let her go on like this for too long. I love her so much and I don't want to let her suffer. 8... She is 8 years old in November.

I'm so sorry to read this, cant imagine how hard this must be for you :(
Sport billy has been through this recently, if you want some advice might be a good idea to pm lee or Mrs sport billy.
Big hugs x

Hey, sorry to hear this. The steroids may shrink the cancer lumps, this is why the vet has given her an injection of them. What other tablets have you been given? The Steroids once they kick in will make her more hungry - So I would get some critical care to hand to be able to top her up with food. One thing with Lymphoma is was Treacle was not in any pain with it, so that is a good thing.

Timescales will depend on how far the cancer has spread and also how strong Misty is. Treacle had around 2 months from diagnosis. All I can say is make everyday a great day for her, I know you will.

Here is a link to Treacles thread http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?103647-Treacle-has-Lymphoma

Will be more than happy to have a chat with you either by pm or give you a ring. Will pm you my phone number. I am so sorry you are going through this, i know how you must be feeling. I am available tomorrow to have a chat if you want x x

Big hugs and love to Misty

I've already said this on facebook but I will say it on here too, Misty has had an amazing life since she came to live with you, she has been loved and cared for and that's all any piggy can ask for. You will know when the time is right to let her go, your in my thoughts, give Misty a hug from me and the boys x

My Pixie was diagnosed in February with lymphoma following removal and biopsy of a neck lymph node. Simon said four to six weeks. She is still in perky health and sometimes seems our healthiest girl! She has had an UTRI within the last few weeks but recovered after a course of zithromax. I had her checked about two weeks ago as she was making some more strange breathing noises. The vet measured her remaining neck lymph node and in six months it has grown from 12mm to 25mm so he reckoned it is a slow growing lymphoma.
I have no wish to give you false hope. I would just suggest due to lack of research there is little evidence to base a realistic prognosis, Simon was giving examples from guinea pig lynx so I hope you are as lucky as us and have some more time to spend with your ball of fur. Sending big love. X

Misty left us on Monday. By Sunday evening, she didn't want food and only had a little water. She was confused too, walking round in circles and staring upwards. I think it was her time. We took her to the vets on Monday and she weighed just 690 grams (she was 1kg when she was well). The vet took her away to give her some gas and brought her back, then I held her while she went to sleep. I told her she was very brave and I loved her. It was hard but I wanted to be there for her.

Oh hun so sorry to read that :( you did the kindest thing, big hugs to you.
