I am taking my guinea,Abby, who I suspect has mites to my veternarian today. I am almost certain she has mites. If she does, my question is: how do I treat her C&C cage and bedding (towels) to make them mite free to keep her from getting them again?

If she does have mites, your vet will send you home with some kind of mite/tick/parasite treatment. They will also give you instructions as to how to keep her enviroment mite free.

With my 2 that had mites I changed their bedding regularly and scrubbed the cage, I would boil wash any towels/fleece you use or bung it away if you have plenty also remember to clean out the pet carrier you take them to the vets in ;) ;)

For regular treatment have a look at www.gorgeousguineas.com - they do a shampoo and melt which helps to keep the bugs away and is nicer than harsh chemicals. If you email them directly they can help you with personalised advice :)

Do not worry too much about bedding etc because the mites that piggies get are species specific and they do not survive off the host.

I too thoroughly reccommend Gorgeous Guineas, aand Chrissie is very helpful and friendly if you need help in choosing the right product for your piggy.
