Morning. Can anyone tell me what this might be. . I had dongle with me this morning and i saw little white things crawling in his hair. He's an all black pig at first i thought it was dandruff but took a closer look and they are definitely Moving?

Firstly what are they and is there a treatment i can buy for it?

That will be lice, a simple shampoo with Lice n Easy from Gorgeous Guineas will solve it or your can use Johnsons insecticidal shampoo for small animals. Once a week for 3 weeks to ensure they are all gone.

What you're describing sounds like walking dandruff which is also referred to as mange?
There is treatment but I'm not sure what it is, somebody on here may know otherwise a trip to the vet :)

Oh I must be wrong just seen Suzy's post - ignore me! :))

Sorry ") will keep my mouth shut in future.

I wasn't being nasty, just thought the information would be beneficial too everyone as I know I used to get confused, between mites, fungal and lice. People don't know everything, it's not about keeping your mouth shut its about learning. Don't be :red.

Hope things get cleared up soon chrissy x

The 'walking dandruff' is a mite called cheyletiella, it can be easily treated with ivermectin treatment. Dont know about lice and easy shampoo but I'm sure it might work.

Have fun bathing ** piggie :)
