Hey everyone!

I recently was given a 6 week old Guinea pig and I've noticed mites or lice on her, I have puppy and kitten revolution which is normally given to adult guinea pigs but I'm not sure about how to treat the little one. Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions on what to use as she shares a hutch with my 6 month old guinea pig. I live in Australia so any suggestions for products I can purchase here would be appreciated !

Welcome to the forum.

Please see a vet for the correct diagnosis.

Mites are not visible to the human eye (you can only see their evidence - egg casings). Lice are visible to the human eye.

The course of treatment is dosed according to their weight so the vet will need to tell you what is safe.

If it is lice then you will also need to give a short two week course of vitamin c to boost the immune system.

The guide below explains further.

:agr: You will definitely need a vet to identify the problem and then price the correct treatment at the correct dosage. Don’t be tempted to treat on spec.

I called and exotic pets vet and she said to use the revolution puppy and kitten at the same dosage! It's worked wonders! And baby guinea is happy and healthy 😊

In the U.K. our vets are only able to diagnose and treat after a hands on examination so you are lucky to have been given advice over the phone. Did she advise on frequency of treatment and how many treatments to give?
