Ok Africa and Corly have been acting weird, Corly's in a bad mood with me because I brushed him and he doesn't like it but I have noticed that both my boys are being weird when I touch them. Like any sort of touching around the back end (rump) irritates then. Africa does this weird twitch thing with his head when I scratch or brush him there... like how people do when something like nails down a blackboard happens. Ermmm Corly is long haired so needs brushing but he goes mental if I brush near his back end... or even touch the hair (bit of matted i wanted to cut off) just holding it made him wanna bite me... do you think it's mites or something...

I think I remember africa being simular last year and I bathed him in the Gorgeous guineas shampoo and he seemed alright afterwards, it says every month but he was bathed in October along with Leo the day before he died... So I thought maybe I should bath them both... it's ok to bath Corly at 2 months old right? How should I dry him... am sick of him being bad tempered with me... after last nights grooming he even got bad tempered with Africa =[

and this morning Africa had his right eye slightly closed. I looked at it and nothings wrong, no scrapes, bites, blood, cuts nothing... so I don't know what he's doing =[[[[

Have you tried to wash him with the GorgeousGuinea shampoo, the normal one...? Africa stop being so sensitive for months afterwards (well it's been 3 months) and he's back to being over sensitive.

It can be just dry skin? Many piggies do not like being handled at the rump.

I'm not sure from which age onwards you can bathe babies.

Both my girls hate there rump or side being touched an squeal and kick when touched, I think they just don't like it!

Nope, I just assumed it was like mites (even tho his fur is clean from dark bits) and or sensitive skin... Dry skin hmm... maybe on Corly... Africa's skin looks fine... he isn't as bad as Corly is being but I don't like his little twitch when I touch him lol! Guess it's bathtime tonight if anyone can tell me if I'm allowed to bath a 2 month old?

No idea about the eye thing but I will say years ago I had one piggy who would not be happy if one touched his rump some just seem to be touchy in that area.

I always thought that because they mount their for frisky business and domanance, like Africa didn't want me being domant over him hehe. King of my castle bless him.

I think it's to do with dry skin, but i'm glad i found out, because it's good for my new guinea pig study(it seems to be a common thing so i'll need to know what it is!).
Oh and for my pigs!

" new guinea pig study"

A study of new guinea pigs or a new study of guinea pigs?

Wrap him in a towel and be brave and just be calm snip the matted bit away, he will probably thank you afterwards and see if you can get a good look at his skin, as really tight matted fur can agitate the skin and make it sore! :)

Just a suggestion - but you might want to try giving extra Vit C - I use Tesco chewable tablets (NO ZINC!) ground to a powder and diluted in water and syringe each pig. At least 50mg per pig per day.

I know that veggies/food etc are meant to give them enough - but I was really shocked at how much of a difference this made to my pigs coats/sensitivity about being handled/touched over the rump - within two weeks - no further problems.

I now give all my pigs extra Vit C (regardless of veggie intake) over the winter months as a matter of course. It really makes a difference.

Have you ever been taught about a book that is entitled "Dictionary"?

Self-training is the name of the game!

Pebbles? Could you add it to the water bottle and give it to any pig? I'm just curious cuz if its worth doing (thought mine touch wood seem fine)?

You can add Vit C to the water bottle, however, it is preferable to give it direct to the pig. That way you know the pig is getting the Vit C fluid.
Others in the hutch may not drink at all from a bottle containing the Vit. supplement.

oh no, i can't relly add much to what has already been said but {{{hugs}}} to your piggy
