Hi everyone,

I took me 3 year old Stella in to the vet cause I noticed a scab on her back. Didn’t look like an injury from her cage buddy. You can kind of see it in the video attached! Then also, she’s always had this like like clumps of skin At the base of hair? (Several pictures). They don’t fall out I had to get them out. She doesn’t have any hair loss. Occasionally she will get dry ears but then it goes Away. Her cage buddy doesn’t have any of the same signs or anything. Vet put her on antibiotic cream for the scab after doing a shave around it and cleaning some of the scab off to expose live skin for the ointment to work..

My main concern is about the little bunches of skin around the hair root ? Any experience? Also, she has SOME dander , but the vet didn’t think it was a concerning amount. Please advise! We have a recheck in 2 weeks by the way.

idk why new born pup is under my name 😂

Anyone know what these are? (See attached!)
I noticed a couple of these little tuffs held together by a chunk of dry skin here and there. Anyone else’s piggies have these? Other piggy in the cage doesn’t have any! Stella (the one who produced these little chumps) occasionally gets dry ears too! Nothing serious just a little bit of dander on her ear. Goes away after Vaseline.
Also, no hair loss anywhere! A little More sparse behind the ears but I heard that’s normal. ANY help is appreciated.
Went to vet for scab on back but vet did not seem to think that was mites - more likely an infected follicle or maybe wound or scratch that didn’t heal?

Please post once for same problem as it gets confusing for the health experts and other members to help you. @VickiA please merge with other thread or delete as appropriate.

Only a vet can give you a diagnosis here, please ask your vet to do appropriate tests for mites, fungal infections, and bacterial infections, before concluding that she just has dry skin!

I agree with pigglepuggle checking for mites and doing a skin scraping to check for fungal might be needed to rule out conditions.
