Mites Help please

Hello there I am new to this website just looking for some help I have 4 guinea pigs and after introducing my new 2 to my first bought 2 everyone is scratching! I have checked all 4 ladies and can’t see anything moving no scabs or hair loss but I have noticed them scratching and biting thier backs i thought one of the new ones skin looks a bit pinky/red as she has swirls of white hair so was easy to notice but I just thought maybe that was normal… we have been to the vet and we got Zeno 50 mini I applied today which they hated! They now looks like greasy piggy’s has anyone experienced scratching with no sign of lice/fleas/ringworm I have changed all thier fleece liners cleaned cage I’m not sure how long the treatment will take… need to apply in 14 days and then again in another 14 days but I’m worried about handling them too much incase myself or my children can catch anything which is rubbish because it’s affecting bonding thanks and sorry for the long thread I’m completely new to this many thanks x

It’s quite normal to not see anything as mites themselves are not visible. You can only see their evidence - piggies scratching, sore skin, patches of hair loss, egg casings often stuck to the back end of the piggy.
There are two types of mites - hay mites and mange mites

Guinea pigs don’t get fleas.
Lice are pale crawling creatures which are visible.

As they have been diagnosed with mites, then they are species specific so you nor your children will catch it.

Ringworm is highly contagious and any animal, including humans, can get that.
Your vet is treating for mites though by using Xeno. Xeno will not cure ringworm.
The treatment is as you have said - three separate doses with two weeks between each dose.

Thank you very much for your reply much appreciated hopefully it clears up I will keep an eye and maybe come back here if need be I have about 100 questions about my Guineas lol one at a time though x
