I noticed this today...... hair loss and on giving a thorough check over I found what I think is bite....

Any ideas which it is ? Mites or fighting ?

I would think that he has been biting himself where the mites have been irritating him. Fight wounds wouldn't cause a thinning of the hair like that.

Dont know how I missed this but he has no whiskers.....just stumps. Is that significant ?

What made me think is wasn't mites was the fact that he let me kind of scrape the skin to see if it was dandruffy and he didn't even flinch. I thought mites made their skin painful.

Either way the mites are easy to treat as I have the stuff already so I'll do that now and I guess time will tell on the fighting. They are always having a go at each other but Bumble always stands his ground and I've not see full on fighting.... yet ! It's that bloody Pickles .... he is always the cause of trouble. I've already had to take out his father because he was being a horrible little pig.

I do agree that the hair loss looks like that caused by skin issues.

Some piggies do have very short whiskers, and I think rex have short, crinkly whiskers. I always wondered why my Jasmine had such enormous whiskers, and found out when she grew up to be a 3lb chubbster!
